What a wonderful experience to be a part of.
Our family will never forget!
These folks were helping to release baby tortugas into the ocean.
Just after sunset we were able to take part in the release of 90 newly hatched turtles. They protect them from predators until they are ready for release.
They simply ask for a donation if you participate to provide necessities for the task.
There were around 100 people the night we went.

This is experience was amazing. As we waited for sunset, whales went up and down the coastline spouting. Many even breached further offshore! Watching the tiny Olive Ridley turtles fight the waves to make it into the ocean was incredible.

Our experience at Tortugueros Las Playitas A.C. was absolutely enchanting. Releasing baby turtles at sunset was truly a magical moment that my companions and I will cherish forever. If you ever have the opportunity, don't hesitate to immerse yourself in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The staff were knowledgeable and passionate, adding depth to our adventure. Highly recommended for nature enthusiasts and those seeking unforgettable memories.

I would recommend this bucketlist activity.

As you park and walk out to the ocean, you'll see a fenced-in tent where the turtle eggs are in process of hatching.

Usually, every evening at sunset, they release the baby turtles that were born that day.

They set out several tubs with baby turtles and answer questions about the conservation efforts to help build the overall population. As there are several tubs, all should have an opportunity to take pics/vids up close.

When the time comes, they carry the tubs to the ocean sand and set them free for the waves to carry them out.

While waiting, we watched the large crashing ways and whale spouts while the sun sets.

Very beautiful.

They didn't release the turtles the night we went for a few reasons, but it was still great!! They brought some of them out in little tubs for us to see and it was awesome! That beach was beautiful with the sunset! Definitely going back!!

Access down International road is fine in a car without 4x4.
Great experience for all ages.
Keep an eye on the horizon, for whales and pelicans.
Make sure you leave a donation, the money helps ensure the volunteers aren't too out of pocket.

We took our 2 year old and he loved seeing the turtles make their way to the water. A few notes/tips:
- Location: once you arrive at the maps location you'll see some greenhouses and a fenced off area. Head there.
- Timing: the actual release happens a few minutes after sunset so unless your child is unusually patient I'd recommend arriving 10-15 mins before that. I think they run it every day from mid November through late Spring. We went on a Sunday (Jan 1st) and we're worried it might not be happening but it did.
- Bring: If you go in winter like us (in early December) then bring a jacket as it can get chilly after the sun goes down.
- Warning: Dont try to swim at this beach - there are big sneaker waves so keep your kids away from the water, even.

The location is a little bit hard to find. Some roadsigns could be handy. Great beach were they are located and what a wonderful job these people are doing. The release of around 30 baby Golfina sea turtles was magical.

TIP: If a release is going to occur, notice will be placed on their Facebook page. For the survivability of the turtles, the release occurs strictly at sunset (or sunrise). Google the sunset time, and then arrive about an hour or so earlier to see the nests, hear a talk about the turtle incubation program, and then watch them be released.

Take some cash to buy a t-shirt, or to leave a generous donation.

Without wanting to spoil the talk they give, it's amazing to think that without the help of all the wonderful volunteers sustaining this not for profit organisation, none of the turtles being released would be alive. Not one!

The road does not require an SUV, but if driving in a regular sedan, take your time to avoid the holes and soft sand sections.

There are two turtle protection organisations in the area. Each one operates for about 6 months. One uses a greenhouse for warmth (this review), and one doesn't.

If you have any sort of animal bone in your body, it's definitely worth the hour drive from Cabo to be part of this amazing event.

This particular beach is not appropriate for swimming. The surf is intense and the waves break way too close to shore.

Not easy to find. Quiet and empty. Great place to picnic and sun bathe. The rip tide is wicked, so not really a swimming or surf beach. I took a dip to cool off and got pounded into the sand by waves. Exciting for an adult in a "I'm in danger" sorta way, but would not recommend for kids.

Really awesome experience! They let you see the baby turtles and talk about the process before releasing them into the surf. The google directions are correct, you can park on the beach or on the side of the road leading up to the beach. Head to the green house structure about an hour before sunset to catch the release. Bring some dollars to make a donation or buy a tee shirt!

Awesome experience, nice people, our group starts at about 5pm and there where two more groups later, assuming this depend on people showing up, no schedule, there is designated parking near and this spot is only big tent on the beach, you cannot miss it. We have been asked for 100 pesos contribution per person.

We participated two nights in a row: once as spectators and once as "biologists for a day". Such an incredible experience; and the sunset was incredible!

Show up before dark. Hang out, learn a little bit about sea turtles and how to help them. Stay until after sunset, and help release the newly hatched babies into the Pacific.

I’m a volunteer here for the month of January, there are generally releases every night at sunset. Most people start to gather around 5pm. It’s expected to be released every night for the rest of the month.
