El Fundador Restaurant

What a great find! I was tempted to eat at the first place but I decided to check Google reviews- and I was so thankful! Amazing food, and the owner is a wonderful, gracious man. It was fun to visit with him and enjoy a meal under umbrellas by the beach. My wife got fish tacos and I got octopus with butter and garlic- delicious!

Perfect spot a towards the end of the beach. Do yourself a favour and pass by the bigger restaurants and grab a table here. Super friendly owner and a nice quiet spot compared with the area around the pier. Great food, had the Baha tacos and dine nachos and both were great!

Great place to hang out. Owners are very polite, attentive and courteous. Don't do the tourist thing, enjoy authentic food here

A small restaurant with an excellent view of the beach. Went there with two friends. My dish consisted of a seafood soup; the best I have had in my current visit to Mexico: a tomato based soup, with just the right amount of spices, and loaded with seafood. It was served with warm garlic bread. I highly recommend this restaurant not only for the excellent food, the reasonable prices and great location but also for the friendly atmosphere and good service provided by the staff.

Got to Las Animas for my 1st time early in the morning and immediately took a table to one of the huge restaurants. BIG MISTAKE. We were one of 3 or 4 table in a restaurant with 30 or 40 tables. A little after noon, three big tour boats arrived each with almost a hundred people and suddenly the restaurant was swamped and filled to capacity. Not Good.

We then walked to the right of the pier until we found El Fundador, a small little place. We found paradise under a breezy thatched roof open to the view, air and air on all sides. We hadn't eaten yet and one in our group is very sensitive to any dairy products. The owner; I didn't get his name, came over and did a vegetable meal with steamed rice for him which he really appreciated.

I had the GINGER CHICKEN (about 150 pesos / US$ 7.50) which was wonderful and inexpensive compared to where we had been. Marinated in ginger and lime perhaps for the day and grilled served with crispy vegetables. Wonderful. Bear, Margaritas, Sodas were all less and it was lovely.

We are going back to Las Animas this week-end to enjoy or second day there.

Gotta love this place !
