Amazing place to visit on your trip! Everyone was very friendly, and our host Fernando was amazing! Highly recommend, I'll be back soon!

It was a new place to visit and interesting, since you receive a tour of the place along with an explanation of how tequila is made.

Tequila añejo (aged tequila) - I usually drank it on the rocks and with a touch of lime and agave. But that was about to change ...

Last fall, I was heading to the town of Tequila with some locals. By chance we stopped over to check out Herradura's operation - a nice, polished establishment. But we were looking for something more local, more real, not the commercial stuff, something more authentic and with more grit, and off the beaten path, which only the likes of Anthony Bourdain could conjure up.

By word of mouth, we learned that just under a mile down the same dirt and cobble-stone road there was a micro-distillery Tequilera Las Juntas, Google maps lists it as Rosa Lia Distillery.

We pressed on and did not regret it ...

We met one of the family's proprietors, Saul, a very pleasant man and a real Mexican "charro" who spends his free time painting right there by the stock room, when he's not helping customers or running the place.

He showed us around, from his stock room to the bottom of the cellar. While he walked everyone through how the stuff is made, I got to take some nice pics.

Then we tried the añejo. No ice, no mix ... just an incredibly smooth and nutty flavor with honey-like color - a transformational moment. That's when I realized that there is another dimension to Tequila the spirit. By buying the commercially available stuff, we're missing an awful much.

We sat on his porch, relaxed, took in the country-side air and sipped the añejo. It was one of those moments where time slowed a bit. Some of the guys enjoyed a cigar with Saul, while the rest bought a few bottles to take home.

A whole new spectrum of tequila came into sight. The effort was well worth it and "no reservations" were required.

Great tequila for a great price. No frills like the nearby distilleries but you definitely get way more bang for your buck.

Excelente lugar donde producen tequila de exportación. Puedes comprar en garrafa o en botella elegante. Muy buena atención y tequila de muy alta calidad. Las personas que trabajan son muy orgullosas de Amatitan y muy amables de recibir visitas. CUIDADO no podrás salir de ahi sin beber mínimo dos tequilas.

Es una destilería ubicada en Amatitan Jalisco, que cuenta con el trato amable de sus dueños asi como con un tequila elaborado con amor y profesionalismo, lo que permite degustar una bebida deliciosa al paladar, en cualquiera de sus presentaciones, blanco, reposado,añejo,extraañejo,y rosa todos con calidad de exportación.

Paisajes únicos llenos de aromas peculiares, sabes que vas llegando a Rosalía cuando percibes ese dulce cociendo entrando por la nariz llegando a los pulmones y robando un suspiro que te dice después del puente todo derecho igual a la forma más buena para degustar la bebida, muy bien tequila en todas sus presentaciones siempre se encuentra una favorita, en mi caso el blanco, con ese mezclado no me ando limitando.

A todo mundo que le he obsequiado tequila de esta planta, le ha encantado. Excelente producto y tengo entendido que es Calidad de exportación.
