Very nice and quiet place! This is a hidden gem not too far from the city of Chetumal. You kind of have to drive through secondary roads to get there so that's most likely why people don't even bother to go and visit the site. And they are wrong!

Beautiful buildings and temples and you're allowed to climb them! Just be careful beaches it's very slippery. The site is in the middle of the jungle and it's very humid there.

There is enough parking at the entrance and the staff is very friendly. They keep a book which you have to sign and state the country where you come from.

Bug spray is a must here!

Love this place! Only 7 km from my house. Third time there, saw 3 other people as I was leaving. Very hands on site in the jungle. The grounds are not completely clear cut ot trees as in many other sites giving it an intimate appeal.

The last 1km is really bad, so I parked outside of the site and walk in. The Spanish Church is awesome.

Me encantó el lugar. Definitivamente lleven repelente para los mosquitos. Muy tranquilo el ambiente. Fue una experiencia hermosa

Very good place to visit. It's very calm here. They let you just walk around everywhere. I just liked the fact that this place is sort of in the middle of nowhere and all the history behind it is amazing. Please take bug spray. I didn't and i definitely regretted it. Lol. Definitely worth your while if your into visiting sites like this.

These ruins are off the main tourist path so there was noone else here, but they are just as interesting as the more well known locations and fully walkable and interactable, which is quite unique (there are even signs to read on top of the pyramid).

This was a great experience I know there not big pyramids but just to see the history and the huge trees around them. It is worth going!

Small but worth going. There are lots of shade and you can still go up on the pyramids. #oxtankah #eyetravelhr

Really beautiful and almost no visitors when we went. We were highly recommended a repellent and sunscreen but there weren't that many mosquitos and there's ample shade.
To get there from Chetumal take the combi to Caldritas 7 peso per person and from there a taxi for 50 peso all. No phone reception in the area so if u don't wanna walk back, better coordinate a time with the driver. You could probably see all in an hour but I enjoyed much more taking 5 hours there breathing into the jungle :)

Great, way out of the way, not very visited Mayan ruins site. Take plenty of bug repellent, the mosquitos are vicious. Plenty of shade. We practically had the whole site to ourselves. Includes an old Spanish church.

Secluded in the jungle, this site was cool, sparsely attended, and there were few barriers. Unlike most zonas archeologicas, you could climb the stairs to the tops of monuments. Highly recommend!

A wonderful place to lost yourself to the jungle for a couple of hours. You'll hear the stories from the remaining buildings themselves and, with some luck, there'll be loneliness enough to hear all the creatures lurking nearby

Beautiful place with mayan ruins. Well maintained and with walking paths. Lots of agressive mosquitos though. No public transport to this site.
