An astounding experience. I’ve been curious about this place for a while and I’m glad I made it. The owner’s son comprehensively took us through the founding story as to how Luis Barragan was commissioned to design this minimalistic aesthetic inspired by Moorish design and Rembrandt.

Best “house/museum” experience imo. Intimate, small group experience. The host takes his time to tell the history/story. Plenty of time to explore different parts of the house. There’s no none sense like “photo fee” or feeling rushed.

Note: he’ll come pick you/your group up at your appointment time. Don’t think the door bell works.

The last home designed in its entirety by noted architect Luis Barragán owes its existence to an impressive jacaranda tree.
Built between 1975 and 1977, the house was completed as Barragán turned 75 years old. It would be the last work entirely his own before he passed in 1988. The structure includes many of his characteristic trademarks such as large volumes with minimalist decoration, water features, and monochrome walls in bright colors.

This house is gorgeous. It’s a little deceptive that it says it’s an art museum. It is actually a private home, and you can only visit at certain times with a guide. The guide grew up in this house and he told us stories about his childhood from this building.

One of the most stunning architectural gems in Mexico City. Interesting storytelling and tour, learnt a lot about Luis Barragán’s work.

As an architect, it was such a treat to visit this masterpiece of architect Luis Barragan. Our host, Eduardo, is the son of the original owner of the house, who grew up there and his family members still live there. That said, it was a very intimate experience to hear his stories and to learn how his family enjoyed the house.

If you plan to visit, send an email to the address on their website, they are very responsive.

Enjoy!

Beautiful home! Making a reservation was easy. A little pricey - $600 MXN or $35 USD - but it’s worth the visit if you’re into architecture. Eames house in LA is about the same price and you don’t get to walk around inside that one. I enjoyed learning about the home and having the opportunity to explore on my own. Make sure to ask questions, they will all be answered.

Such a beautiful house! Carlos did a great job explaining the history of the house. The tour costs around USD 30 per person but I definitely recommend a visit for those who love design and architecture.

It was so much fun. The tour guide grew up in the house and was incredibly knowledgable about art, architecture and space. I highly recommend it! $600 pesos is a bit steep to only view a few spaces in the house, but it was great to pick the tour guides brain and feel the space intimately.

Hidden gem tour to see Luis Barragan style home. Host is the family and it is largely self guided.

Would highly recommend getting a reservation if you are a fan of minimalistic architecture. This tour of one of Luis Barragán’s designed homes is a one of a kind experience. The son of the homeowner is very knowledgeable and attentive to any questions we had. This tour of the home felt intimate, emotional, and thoughtful.

Wonderful experience! You get a tour from the owner's son who is an architect and architecture professor, which gives the tour so much depth. Reserve in advance over email, tickets are 600 pesos per person and highly worth visiting.

It was on the pricey side, considering it was Mexico and I felt they were charging us in dollars. The owner did say Mexico calls it a historic/ heritage building but doesn't offer funding which leaves her to deal with the maintenance of it herself, which then I understood the price was justified, for Americans. It was a beautiful house and even though its currently being lived in, kept as true to the original design intent as ever.

Beautiful and educational. I learned so much about color and light play, what a delight. Pay for the photo option if you can
