Such a great meal at a superb price. This is a great spot to eat local. It is not fancy, but the food is well prepared and delicious. We got the molcajete, which we could barely finish with two people. All the other food we saw people eating looked like delicious breakfast foods. We cannot wait to go back.

This was by far our favourite place in Guanajuato. It feels like a place made for university students, the vibe is very comfortable and informal (which I totally liked!) but the food is absolutely amazing. The moles and enchiladas were by far the best I had in all of Mexico so far (at prices that are very good too). Actually we went there twice for dinner because we liked everything so much!

Great food, reasonable prices, quaint location, great staff. What else do you need to know? Maybe that the place is very small and chances are that you will be waiting in line for a while if you want to be seated. Another thing is that the place has been "discovered" by YouTubers and is now inundated with tourists, so don't expect an "authentic" experience

Unequivocally 5 stars. Amazing quality food for a fantastic price. Friendly service and lively music. The mole poblano is a must. The pozole and sopa de frijol were also amazing as were the other dishes we tried.

This was our favourite in Guanajuato and we came back twice in a three day visit. All the local specialities such as mineras on offer. Lots of vegetarian options are available and most dishes which aren't vegetarian can be made so on request (the mole dishes for example she said would come with potatoes and carrots instead of the meat). Very generous portions with lots of delicious sauce. The avocado sauce which came with the chips free to the table was amazing. Service was friendly, attentive and fast.

No complaints, great fresh food with lots options. They do not serve alcohol if you are looking for that with dinner. All the dishes were fresh, well prepared, and tasty.

The mole was best ever and the lemon carlota was delicious. Prices and service were great. Highly recommend!

Excellent food and service. Lots of local options and vegetarian friendly dishes. Waiters were very polite and helpful. The soups were excellent, black bean soup and Aztecs soup were excellent.

This is a great place to taste a typical Mexican food in Guanajuato. I recommend Chilaquiles rellenos divorciados and to drink tamarindo water. Enjoy your trip in Guanajuato.

The food and agua frescas, especially the enchiladas with green sauce and the melon agua fresca, were fantastic! Quick and friendly service. Many vegetarian options.

Went with a group of 5 people and we all agreed it was our favorite meal during our entire week in GTO. We had the enmoladas, pozole, chile relleno, milanesa de pollo, and enchiladas mineras. All 5 dishes were excellent and we would all order them again. Every sauce on the table was beautiful and seasoned perfectly. The only slight con was the slow service, which we didn’t get too upset about because there was only one waiter for the whole restaurant.

Very delicious food, friendly staff and charming atmosphere in the restaurant. Lots of meals can be varied to be vegetarian which makes it possible to eat authentic and diverse foods. Can only recommend!

No doubt, this is one of the best restaurants for traditional Mexican food in Guanajuato. The food is delicious and more affordable than touristy places. I highly recommend that you try the chilaquiles, enchiladas, mole, and stuffed pepper (one of my favorites and not spicy). The place can get crowded sometimes and you may have to wait for your meal, but it’s worth it. You’ll see many foreigners enjoying the food here.

Los Huacales serves super delicious Mexican food for a great price and the food is cooked to a great standard. I absolutely loved my meal and I would definitely recommend it! I found it by word of mouth in my hostel so that already indicates how good it is.

Loved the food and the attention to detail. The serving dishes are creative and rustic. Fits maybe 16-20 clients at a time. Very cheap fo the quality of the food, service and cleanness. My husband is vegetarian and he was able to find delicious food.

Way better than expected! Everything we ate was delicious (Mexican and foreigner approved!) This is the best value restaurant we ate at during our stay in Guanajuato city by a significant margin and would recommend to friends, family, and the person reading this review.

Service was slow but it was also a very busy time of year with many tourists in the city.

This restaurant is a MUST if you want excellent food at good prices! It's less than a 5 minute walk from the Teatro Juarez. The fideo soup, the enfrijoladas and the huaraches are to die for! Huge portions! Will definitely be back!

I love this place. I have tried the quesadillas, flautas, milanesas, mole acacahuetado and pipian and the sopa azteca. All of them tasted delicious! This not to mention the price, which turns this place the best cost benefit in Mexico! They do not serve alcohol. But, leaving the restaurant there are several bars for a nightcap.
