Zona Arqueológica de Cholula

We took a taxi from Puebla to visit Cholula. We first walked up the hill to visit the church and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding area. Very impressive. Then we visited the museum and walked the path around the ruins. The museum was small, but had nice displays. The ruins were interesting and we could only imagine how impressive the original pyramid must have been.

Totally worth paying a visit to this landmark.
Such a great view and a mix of folklore and fun.

Cholula and the archeological site are pure magic. There is nothing quite like seeing this in person, and the experience will stay with me for my lifetime.

Amazing place honestly, each section has an information panel explaining what you are looking at. The way everything is still intact is amazing, towards the end you can climb the steps all the way up, when i went there was a mini dust storm so head up on that.

Such an amazing experience! The museum and tunnels were closed, which we would have loved to be told upon purchasing our tickets. But it was still worth the 80 pesos. The signs are poorly translated to English and I think some graphs and illustrations would go a long way in helping one along the journey. Even so, it was so much more than what I expected and so interesting.

Great Place and absolutely impressive pyramid. Unfortunately we were not able to go inside due covid measurements. Traditional market on the ground plaza with a huge offer for souvenirs.

Beautiful! Entrance fee reasonable (80 pesos) per adult, kids free. No card payment, only cash.
I cannot wait for them to dig it all out! Then I will be back to see all of this beauty! Really outstanding, possibly the biggest pyramid of the world!

Interesting place to visit and something we don't see back home

Great place to visit in Cholula (near Puebla). On a good day you can see the two volcanoes near by. Lots of history and beautiful ruins to enjoy. Head there early to beat the heat then head over to Cholula town center and a have a beautiful meal. Great day trip! One consideration: maybe look into having a guide give you a tour of the ruins, there is a lot of history here so that could help paint the most vivid picture.

The ambiance here is so great! If you want to experience a full Mexican experience, this is the place. The variety of restaurants with good food made from scratch; the cultural events on the plaza on the weekends made you feel the full experience in such a small place. You can enjoy the streets full of people walking around buying Mexican crafts and food. I totally love this little town!

Beautiful place, amazing zona arqueológica

Lush, green and beautifully excavated. Fascinating colonial cathedral sitting atop the ancient step pyramid. Well maintained site with expansive lawns small but informative museum offerings. Well worth the not-too-long drive from CDMX/DF

Beautiful site and unreal vantage point to see the entire valley. We were lucky enough to catch a storm from the church and a rainbow to tie it together. Daunting walk, but well worth it!

Interesting archeological site and we’ll worth a visit. The tunnels are apparently the most impressive sight but they were still closed because of Covid.

Zona arqueología surpassed our expectations. The archeological area is larger than we had anticipated, with informational boards explaining the history of it (there are also guides on site for an extra charge), well maintained and clean.

Good for all ages!

Going up to the church is a work out. But once you reach it, you see that it was all worth it. Very beautiful inside. The pyramid where the church seats on is the largest one to date in the world, do I was told. Around the pyramid you'll find a market place to Walk around and do some shopping, getting something to drink or eat. The weather in July is nice here.

The entire experience is spiritual. Between the long climb up to the church and the jaw dropping views of Puebla, you feel like the view was worth it.

Very interesting to see original pyramids. Lots of historical and archeological information provided on guide boards. Make sure to visit archeology museum located next to main ticket booth on main street.

Not to miss. The town is gorgeous! Is a must visit. The pyramid is hidden so it is cool to walk across the tunnels inside the mountain. The view of the church is also very nice.
Walk around the side so you get to see the ruins and the pyramid. If you are claustrophobic, this might not be your place because the tunnels are narrow.

What an amazing experience. Different than other pyramids I've visited in the past in Mexico. You can go in the tunnels and experience a little of this great culture.

It's worth, although a bit challenging if you're limited in movement or fitness, going uphill for the chapel/church and then doing the tunnels and pyramids. I'd recommend the guided tour.
