World-class museum on site with a fabulous pyramid with a rich continuous sacred history from pre-history! Here, a female goddess was worshipped with incense offerings throughout the ages. Until Mary was slipped in by the Spanish priests. Her name didn't seem to matter & it didn't change much (as far as we know). Like Cholula in Puebla, a church was built on top of a sacred hill. Only later was the ancient pyramid revealed!

Really nice museum, very friendly and helpful staff. I speak enough Spanish to negotiate the site and understand most of the museum information. Entrance fee was 75 pesos today. You don't need more than an hour here, unless you want to read every last bit of information in the museum.
They do provide a guided tour, but when I arrived the guide was busy, so I wasn't able to have a tour. I was told that they can do the tour in English.
The five minute walk from the museum to the site winds through a nice desert garden.

Getting to the site was quite the adventure. I planed to take the bus, but upon arriving at the main Alameda bus station I was told to go on a different bus than I had planned. Even though I confirmed that I wanted to go to El Cerrito Museum and site. When I realized I was being taken in the complete opposite direction, I got off the bus and called an Uber. From near the old train station to the pyramid took about 30 minutes and cost 130 pesos
There are several restaurants around the area.
The return journey by bus was much easier, as I took my intended bus to return. The city has been re-organizing the bus routes and changing route numbers, so anything older than 6 to 12 months may have incorrect information regarding the roots and bus numbers.

They are open Thursdays through Sunday 9 am to 2 pm. Entrance is free. The museum is closed. At the gates they instruct you on what not to do - like go off path, take away plants, rocks etc from there, dont climb the pyramid etc - basic common sense. There is lot of security personnel to make sure you stay on track.
Its scenic with lots of cactus and the paths are nicely maintained. Can hangout on the grounds for a while.
I would say, a good way to spend 1/2 hour or so.

Great archeological site, entrance is 70 pesos. Unfortunately, you can't climb or even touch the pyramid though 😞

Very little known place but it is grandiose and good for a visit. The site museum was closed during our visit but that didn't take any from our visit, we enjoyed the winding way up to the Pyramid showing you the area's flora, you can't climb the pyramid but you can admire it from the front and sides, is a very well kept area and the staff is there to help you and enforce the policy of not taking "souvenirs" from the site.
Parking is free, and is a little away from the place
Enjoy your visit at this very nice place and appreciate it's significance..

Really nice place. You gotta find street parking, but the walk up to the pyramid is pretty and the pyramid itself is pretty amazing (its no Chichen Itza though). The museum was still closed when we went.

Arrived a few mins before 4 pm, they close at 4:30. Because we are over 60 y/o, no charge for admittance. Walked around, I was super impressed by the plant life, it was quite beautiful. The pyramid is impressive.

Reopened recently thursdays to sundays 9 am to 2 pm. The museum remains closed. Free entry. Not permitted to climb the pyramid. Nice cactus garden to walk through to the pyramid. Beware the red ants on the ground closer to the pyramid, wear covered shoes. The exit is through the other gate. No parking available but one can park on streets nearby. Even better than the up close view is the distant view from the top of the colourful steps marked “ callejon calzada de los ancestros”, a short walk away from the pyramid.

You will love this place. Not many people know about it. If you visit the city you can't go wrong with this site. Its calm and an amazing archeological place. I would love to see more of this place uncovered and studied. Please make sure to follow the directions given by the guides to preserve it.

Open from Thu-Sunday. Sundays it's free, weekdays and Saturdays students and elderly ppl (INAPAM) with ID get a discount.
You can't climb the piramid. NOT PET FRIENDLY as it's a protected reserve, YOU CANNOT TAKE ANYTHING, PLANT, FRUIT OR ANIMAL.

Built between 300 BC to 1500 AD, this magnificent building can be seen from miles away. Pyramid was closed for some time during COVID but is open now to the public. From the gate to the actual pyramid is about 15 minutes walk plus some stairs so recommend to wear sports shoes. The size of stone consists of pyramid is small compared to other pyramids and wonder how this was built in first place. This is one of must-visit place along with water bridge.

Nice and small museum, actually, it is one of the smallest I've ever seen.
Only 1 hall but a lot of story distribute in a rounded shape, several little statues and a lot of memorabilia and charts showing different views of the culture stablished in Qro several years ago.

Also, it's free. :)

This review is only for the garden, which I like very much. Excellent display of native desert flora.

Nice small archeological site. The pyramid is stil partially coverd giving you an idea how it looked like prior to it's discovery. Currently, they are renovating and expanding the premises.
Visiting the site takes about 30 minutes.

This park is open 0900 to 1430 Tuesday through Sunday. A newer park, so take what you need, i.e., water, snacks, batteries, sunscreen. They do have bathrooms at the gate. The signage has much to be desired, but seeing this beautiful work by the ancients is worth the struggle. Do not expect to climb this pyramid, it is prohibited. There are plans to build a visitors center and there are guides that will speak on many of the points during their tour, but no English is spoken, so be bilingual! Not only is the pyramid impressive, but the vistas from its platform are beautiful as well of Queretaro and surrounding mountains. I was fortunate to see this in my lifetime! The park is a work in progress so I cant wait to revisit El Cerrito in the future!
