Parque Zoológico Animaya

We adore this zoo. The very well cared for animals roam free, while the humans are behind the fences. All the plains animals are free to interact with each other, and seem very comfortable and well fed.

Great parque with nice setting for the animals and plenty for the kids to do. Love that animals are given lots of space and most are with other animals

Free experience makes it certainly with the trip. Wander thru the park and see many animals. Our favorite area was the reptile cages with all the turtles. Maybe a 1/2-1 mile loop all on pavement. Snacks and drinks are available.

This is the best zoo ever! Very beautiful terrain and the animals look happy and healthy with lots of room to roam and socialize! We took a ride on the catamaran after walking through and I'm so glad we did. The monkeys have there own island, (no cages!) How brilliant is that? There was no admission charge for anything either! Merida really has it going on, what a wonderful city!

Excellent place to visit. Some animals can roam freely. The guides are very kind and helpful.

A very good place. And the best part is "all free"... Except for the train, but anyway the cost is so slow. I loved this park and I strongly recommend it.

Wonderful, Amazing, Magnificent, Free, A Must See in Merida. More than just a Zoo!!! Did I mention Free even for tourists WoW. In Merida if you are a tourist most places you visit you have to pay double or triple the price of locals this place is Free to enter for All. The Zoo's in the U.S. are nothing like this and they are not Free.

Excellent place for kids 0-999. Great way to spend some time with the family.

Beautiful space, small but worth visiting :)

Absolutely loved it. They have a nice tower which was open until 5:00. And there is a boat ride but it stops at 4:00 and the tickets often sell out before then. I went on a week day.

Such a nice place not far from Merida! A must if you love animals. They have lions, giraffes, flamingos, ostriches, hippos, and many more. They also have "safari" tours every half hour. And everything is free!

Very cool zoo! Entrance and transportation on an AC bus was free from the Parque del Centenario as it was closed due to remodeling. All the animals at Animaya looked well looked after and I loved that most of them have a lot of space to roam around.
