Great atmosphere in al cantina steeped in history. Drinks are good and not too outrageously priced.

We really enjoyed our dinner here - Mario provided excellent service - he spoke excellent English which helped us out and had lots of patience to let me work things out in Spanish.

The enchiladas were very good and the flan and my Manhattan were excellent.

There was live entertainment at the table next to us - it was a very enjoyable evening 😊

Really great food! Excellent service! Went there to see the famous bullet hole shot in the ceiling by Pancho Villa.

While the food is not fancy, the atmosphere is classic and charming, and the service was attentive. I’d be happy to return.

Extremely friendly bartender. We had the luck of arriving when a trio of excellent local musicians performed.

Delicious food, fantastic service, the best restaurant in our trip to Mexico City! It was a dream to go and sit in the best seat in the house, right under Pancho Villa's historical bullet hole! The service was so amazing and the food was honestly WOW! LOVED IT!

We had a really good experience at La Opera. I got the enchiladas with mole sauce on top. The 2 cocktails shown are a mojito and a Manhattan. We paid about $15 per person drinks included which was a very good deal. Also live mariachi the day we were there.

We found this gem on our recent trip. Felt like we had been transported to Paris. This building has been around since 1895 and is just beautiful. The bar staff was attentive, our drinks were refreshing and enjoyable. The charcuterie board was tasty. The French onion soup had a chicken broth base which wasn't my favorite.

Very cool, historic spot! We only came here for drinks but enjoyed the decor and reading about the history. Drinks are very well-priced. The only thing is they gave us a few chips with refried beans, without us asking, at the bar - makes it seem complimentary. I can’t even eat most refried beans since I’m vegetarian. Then on our tab we were charged for the beans. It was only 5 pesos which is almost nothing (25 cents USD), so I’m not taking away a star for it, but on principle I find the practice of giving something without even asking if you want it, and then charging for it, to be a bit disingenuous. Again, it was only 5 pesos though, so not a big deal at all. Would definitely recommend checking this place out for drinks and because it’s a must for its cool history!

A bar with a lot of tradition, good food and good service. This places has a gunshot in the ceiling made by Pancho Villa. A must if you are sightseeing in downtown Mexico or if you want to go for beers, tequila any weekend

A true piece of wood making history. An 143 year old Mexican Cantina, where Pancho Villa sat and drank his tequila. You can smell the cedar bar, and see the gold accented floral ceiling. A must view. Carlos our bartender was of the highest caliber, he made perfect cocktails and was spot on in recommendations. Definitely an experience!

Old restaurant dating back to 1900’s. President Porfirio Díaz used to attend here. Originally was a French bakery and the it was turned into a high end Mexican cantina, after the Mexican revolution Pancho Villa entered the cantina riding his horse and shooting his pistol, there’s still the hole in the ceiling. In the seventies it was turned into a restaurant. Good Mexican food and very nice bar.
