Amarbayasgalant Monastery

The Monastery is very much worth a visit, and it's a bonus that it's situated in a very beautiful valley. Worth walking up the hill behind the Monastery.

This is a definite must see Monastery if you come to Mongolia. About a 5 hour drive from Ulaanbataar and 35 kms up an unpaved road. The monks living in the housing to the right of the Monastery have keys and will open it up for you.

Wonderful monastrey in a beautiful valley

Ryan off the beaten tracks. Absolutely NO-ONE was there, apart from farmers, cows and sheep. Nested in a beautiful valley. We loved it! A few houses / Gers at the bottom, so we were lucky to find a ger to sleep. Our 4 kids loved it!

Beautiful temple in a valley of mountains. Very secluded. Lovely scenery. Pay a small fee of 5000 mnt to go inside. Recommend making this a stop!

I have visited many monasteries and temples throughout China, Korea, Tibet, Nepal and Vietnam and have never seen one as beautiful as Amarbayasgalant Monastery.

I have been there once. Its very attractive monestry. People should go there

Historical

Dalla strada asfaltata ci vogliono 35 km di pista nei prati e un ultimo guado del ruscello rischioso ( due auto e anche il nostro furgone si sono bloccati in acqua ) poi però è bella la location con monastero e stupa (anche se avrebbero bisogno di manutenzione), consiglio la salita in cima alla collina da dove si domina la stupenda valle.

慶寧寺 ，蒙古語稱Амарбаясгалант хийд(Amarbayasgalant Monastery)，建於1727年至1736年間，是一座藏傳佛教格魯派寺院古蹟。
雍正五年(1727年)，雍正帝為''第一世哲布尊丹巴呼圖克圖''安置舍利而興建該寺。乾隆元年(1736年)竣工，乾隆帝賜名「慶寧寺」(蒙古語阿瑪爾巴雅斯嘎朗寺)，乾隆帝還御書建寺牌匾「敕建慶寧寺」(滿、蒙、漢文)掛於大門，並賜「福佑恆沙」匾額，立「御製慶寧寺碑」。
慶寧寺除了保留許多藏傳佛教的古文物之外，其寺院建築的智慧，也有許多值得細細品味研究之處，例如大殿內部是由64根大圓柱支撐，全部採卡榫工法，沒有使用任何一根釘子，下大雨時，雨水流入各圓柱內部，圓柱再將雨水導流至地底下再排出殿外。
