Soon Oo Pon Nya Shin Pagoda

This is one of the most beautiful pagoda complex in the region. It is on the hill top and the ourney is so beautiful. The weather should be pleasant of your day trip as it can be hot on a sunny day. There is a lot of shade in the complex.

On one side, you can see the mighty Ayyerawadi river separating the Mandalay and Sagaing regions and on one side you can see small and large goldene pagodas spread over the whole region.

The view is so look good but if you won't to feel heat ,you should go during morning and evening

Great view on Sagain mountains with all monastaries and river. We took the stairs big effort but worth it you can also go there by car and st down by stairs.

Well organized pagoda on top of the hill and you can see the irrawady river view. Many visitors came to visit the place.

SAGAING, Myanmar (Burma) — It’s one of the oldest–and from all appearances, richest–of the many pagodas in Sagaing. Sitting high on top of Nga-pha Hill, it was built in 1312.

It’s one of the oldest–and from all appearances, richest–of the many pagodas in Sagaing. Sitting high on top of Nga-pha Hill, one of dozens of hilltops in the Sagaing Hills, it was built in 1312 by Minister Pon Nya, after whom it’s named.

It’s not the most subtly decorated pagoda you’ll come across, thanks to a flood of cash coming in. A few things stand out in the main prayer hall. You can’t miss the giant statue of Gautama Buddha that dominates one end, tower higher than the walls around him. He looks unusually cheery. His gold robes and throne are surrounded by jade-colored tiles that line the walls and ceiling. And there are more donation boxes in this pagoda than I’ve seen in any other, each box designated to a particular purpose.
Outside, the sprawling patios aren’t any less opulent. Colorful tiles cover the floors from which gold-covered stupas rise up. And there are great views over the Ayeyarwaddy River and surrounding hilltops.

The hill on which the pagoda sits is shaped a little like a frog. Which is how it got its name. And it also explains the large frog-shaped donation box you’ll see inside.

Beautiful temple on a mountain. Views are beautiful. It's a nice ride from Mandalay by bike. And you ride it to the top right in front of the temple. Parking fee for a bike is 200 kyats.

It's located on the highest part of the sagaing hill. It's famous for its name Soon Oo Ponya Shin because it's mean that it has always been offered the food in the morning by spiritual beings even before the human beings. I haven't tested it yet but you can test when you reach there. You will find the very long stairs leading towards the pagoda and it has 300 stairs. But you can go to the top of the mountain by car. It is basically higher than any part of sagaing so you can see the great view the feel the fresh breeze coming above the ayeyarwadi river which is the lifeblood River in Myanmar. But I want to suggest you that don't go there around 12 noon because it's so hot that I could barely even walk around the place.

I like this place very beautiful on the hill and see ayeyarwati river.

It was an ancient pagoda in Sagaing Division on the top of the Sagaing hill and siturated on the western bank of the Irrawaddy river (life blood of Myanmar). Thus you can see very nice scenery with Irrawaddy river and other side of the river Eg.Mandalay area. Local peoples believe that if they will offer the foods to that pagoda, they are never starving in their lifes.
