Pirate Cemetery of Saint-Pierre

Great place to visit and touch a bit of history. A guided tour is a must and costs 15K per person. Cash only. We had a very nice guide. It is possible to get to nearby pirate island by kayak by yourself.

Amazing place to visit, support the local economy, pay a guide. It's a great little oddity on a beautiful island.

Un endroit chargé d'histoire avec une belle vue. Alors pour commencé ,il vaut mieux prendre ses tickets d'entrée à l'Office de tourisme sur le port d'Ambodifotatra, 15000 ariary par personne pour l'entrée et le guide obligatoire (sinon c'est le double !! Au guichet d'entrée).Accès, depuis le port vers le sud, après l'îlot madame, le premier chemin à gauche après le pont sur la N21. Ensuite pour s'y rendre à pied, la marée doit être de préférence basse ,sinon la petit jetée d'accès est inondé et c'est très glissant ,dans ce cas prévoir un peu plus de sous pour la navette en pirogue. Le guide était sympa et connaissait bien l'histoire du lieu.

Un site mythique qui vaut le coup d y passer une heure pas plus. Attention, le chemin est assez mal pavé et il vous faut des chaussures de marche. Les guides ne sont pas du tout obligatoire mais une taxe de 3000 ariary (1€) est demandée pas la commune. Profitez du beau temps pour y aller, éviter les jours de pluie. C est une vraie curiosité et il n en existe pas d autre dans le monde.

During the first week of being in Madagascar, my family came here because my Dad had heard of this place and wanted to visit it.

After a 5-10 minute walk from the main road you will find yourself in a small graveyard which a nice view of the town. Personally I found the experience slightly boring. A guide went with us the entire way, he was friendly but his accent was quite different to understand.

The cemetery isn’t actually a cemetery, more of a memorial for the pirates , you have to take a guide to go there and it costs 15 000 Ariary - for an additional 30 K you can add a tour of a little island near by with a little boat.
The view is very beautiful, but in my opinion not with the money or time (there are many other vey places and beaches to see)
