Relais de la Montagne d'Ambre

Another of the popular places to stay in Joffreville, we did not stay here, our guide did while we were staying at The Litchi Tree. Tourists are also welcome to stay here, but most if not all the local guides stay here as apparently the owner has a deal with the guides to provide them accomodation in the area. Despite not staying here, (at our guides recomendation) we did come here for an excellent lunch. The food was some of the best we had anywhere on our travels, a starter of green papaya salad followed by a simple white bean stew with sautéed vegetables and rice followed by fruit (we are vegetarian but our guide said the chicken and bean stew was excellent too). The local herbal tea was also excellent. While not overly extravagant the food was superbly seasoned with delicate spices and a hearty portion size to refuel after long hikes. Highly recomend eating here if you are traveling in the area or visiting the park. From what I can tell you will need (or your guide will need) to order your food early in the morning before heading out hiking and then it will be ready for later in the day when you return. We had read some reviews that mentioned a crocodile in a well at this property. I checked, yes there is indeed a very stunted nile crocodile about 5ft long living in a well no larger than about 12ft across. Not nice to see but when I spoke with our guide to find out why the crocodile was there it was apparently left in the well by the previous property owners when it was a private home over 20 years earlier and has been fed on chunks of meat ever since. Far from ideal but apparently not put there by the current owners as a tourist attraction so at least that's one thing to bare in mind. It is also worth mentioning the rest of the gardens and grounds here are beautifully maintained and it makes for very pleasant surroundings for lunch. Highly recommended for food.

Fairytale place.

Une nuit passée au Relais, après la visite du parc qui est juste à côté. Certains ont dormi dans les cabanes dans les arbres, d'autres dans les bungalows. Rien à redire.
Diner très bon et copieux ; idem pour le petit-déjeuner en extérieur, dans le magnifique jardin du relais.
Nous conseillons le lieu!

Non abbiamo dormito al relais, ma mangiato i prodotti locali, rilassandoci dopo una piacevole camminata nella foresta pluviale della Montagne D'Ambre... Due camere sono originali, in legno, costruite su alberi.
Il relais custodisce nel giarduno un coccodrillo e non lontano su può incontrare Luigi, tartaruga gigante di 300 anni!!!

Un repas à la fois délicieux et copieux dans un superbe jardin, à quelques minutes du parc national de la Montagne d'Ambre.

We only went there for lunch. The food was really tasty. The gardens are lovely and it's a nice property with a tree house. There's indeed a crocodile on the property living a sad life in a well... we were told they're building a bigger space.. still it's sad but that's not on the owners as apparently the croc is there since decades now.

Was rainy but at the final we expected to experience a rainforest so we got it. This place is so friendly and the staff is very sympathetic and friendly, and food is so good. We passed a very good time.

Sleeping in a tree house on a huge litchi tree. What could go wrong? Nothing. Comftable but simple.

Great food and service

来马岛一个月住的最差的地方。不要被评价和发布的图片所误导，极其不推荐。条件很不好，茅草屋四处透风，在马岛住了很多茅草屋，但是至少墙是密封的，而这里睡在外面和屋里没有区别。当你午饭或者下午的时间抵达的时候你会发现就餐区有很多人，然后你会觉得这家酒店很好但其实他们都只是来吃饭，并不住在这里. 屋子很小，床也很小，如果你比较壮，那么它的双人床无法容下你和你的爱人，而且床垫是塌陷的。浴室很小很破，马桶没有便圈。这些其实都可以忍受，因为雨林不能要求过高，但是无法忍受和理解的是供电洗澡水的时间不固定，完全由管理者的心情决定，那样的话你就不能长时间的在雨林里寻找动物因为你要赶回来给你的相机电池充电，也要抓紧时间洗澡。而且食物只有几种，菜单完全不更新。很多人开开心心搬来后住了一晚就匆匆搬走了，本来我们在这里定了4晚，但是由于实在太糟糕提前结束了行程换了地方
