I was not expecting all the stimulus you get here. Cobra charmers, chained monkeys, aggressive sellers, weird smells, all colors under the sun and non stop noise. An interesting experience that changes from day to evening. Regardless of the time, I think is worth stopping by and absorbing it all.

It’s definitely an experience.
So full of life and lights, music, good mood.
Also a lot of people trying to sell things.
But generally think it’s something that you definitely need to see with your own eyes in Marrakech

Beautiful place, very touristic and you can find whatever you can imagine to buy. Watch out, there are a lot of scammers tough.

By night, the artists they play instruments, they dance and you can enjoy the spectacle by acrobatic artists for free. The food is very good and fresh, the experience is worth living.

Loved experiencing the Medina. We did a walking food tour and then went back shop on our own. Felt very safe and loved the experience. You haven't been to Marrakesh if you don't visit the Medina.

This is the landmark square of Marrakech especially for tourists. All the hustle and bustle happens here during the day and at night. I would highly recommend you spend some time here walking around and trying different foods they have to offer. You can have dinner here for 2 people for about 23 Euro all in. There is always things happening here and you should not visit Marrakech without visiting this square. I would give strong advice to tourists. Mind your belongings, and the locals who try to put tatoes on your hands do not accept unless you actually want one. They walk up to you start putting the tattoo without asking and making it look like they are your friend. Be polite and firm no and no thank you if you don't want one. Never allow them actually place tattoo on you or they will charge you and expensive too minimum 50 Euro. Apart from that it is a great place to visit and be.

Utterly bonkers market, even more ridiculous at night.
You will be hassled at just about every store/pitch, especially if you show the slightest bit of interest in their wares.
The place to go if you want to eat sheep's head.
Many bargains to be had, particularly from the vendors with no store or pitch that are selling from a blanket on the floor. Prepare to haggle.
The sights, sounds, smells and overall experience is 'a must' in Marrakech.

We found Jemaa El-Fnaa a great place to visit. Locally referred to as the main square or main market, it is best to visit in the evenings. We went in the beginning of November and we found this to be a great time to visit, the mornings are nice and cool, daytime reached mid to high 20s and evening is warm to cool, but not so cold that you need a jumper if you are from the UK.

The market although open from morning, is est to visit from late afternoon onwards, it comes to life in the evening. The busy hustle and bustle of he market is a great atmosphere. There is plenty to see and lots of things to buy if you are in mood for some shopping.

Plenty of food places , street performers including local traditional dances, snake charmers, monkey trainers, horse carriage rides and others.

The traders will say a higher price if you are tourist, don't be out off , they expect you to haggle down :) and they do so without being pushy, in fact if the price is not agreeable you can simply walk away and say thank you, many time they will shout a cheaper price once you have walked away to draw you back. Always haggle.

The Koutoubia mosque is right next to the market, it was closed for repairs, once done it should be open.

Most restaurants you can walk into at this time of year they won't be that busy, there rooftop restaurants dotted all over the, those you might need to book a table for as they overlook the market, a great evening view.

The outdoor market is surrounded by streets and alleys that are overflowing with shop keepers and their wares.

We went without the kids but we can see that it is safe enough to visit with kids, just be mindful of the busy maze like streets and also the scooters that zip past you as you're walking, other than that it's great.

Friendly place, friendly people, good food, good value items for shopping.

Just amazing vibrancy. We went many times and enjoyed the street performers and the food stands and the people watching.

Pro tips: The best time to go is 7pm to 10pm.
Look for the food stalls that specialize in a particular type of food and are filled with locals.
We had the best dinner of our whole trip for $5 per person at a fried fish stand.

The guys trying to get you to eat at their stalls are awful and aggressive. Best tactic we found to get them to stop was to tell them we already ate dinner.

Do not take pictures of people without asking permission. Do not engage with the street performers unless you are prepared to pay them 10 or 20 Dirhams - and then it's ok to also take photos.

About an hour before sunset, go to the roof deck at Glace Terraces and watch the mayhem develop over drinks or coffee - stay until 30 minutes after sunset.

Impressed by what is there, bazaar in the true sense of the word, incomparable to Europe.
To avoid photos: they ask for money and are quite aggressive if you don't offer them, to avoid people who offer to help you find the guesthouse, restaurant or other information: they ask for money.
A lot of cartons, bottles, but by morning the local authorities clean up all the mess and you can't believe that the night before there was agglomeration.

It’s crazy how this square becomes so alive when it gets dark. There are traditional music and dances, different items sold. I would recommend to try the foods of the mobile food Stalls that mysteriously appears when it’s nighttime. Many people might call your attentions, wanting you to spend money. I find it sad that also animals are involved in this, most specially the Monkeys who are intelligent beings even capable of having emotions.

Chaos, weird odours, a lot going on. So many people, so many shouting to you to get your attention. We were there on New Year's eve so the date made this place really busy and crazy, but in overall worth visiting. Stay open minded and try to feel the freedom of this energetic life.

Very enjoyable visit to this unique Moroccan square with many vendors of all things food, textiles, souvenirs, and Cobras. Go up to the top of rooftop restaurants to view many different activities in a relaxed manner.

Hectic as hell at all times, you will be hassled if you're a tourist but that's just the way it is. No aggression mostly asides from the Henna artists, make SURE you tell them no. They will grab your arm and try to start working on it. You are not being rude telling them to get lost.

Jemaa el-Fnaa was quite unexpected. I was told it is gonna be crazy but actually is totally different. Local people are very nice and polite they don't come to you to try o trick you to pay for pictures with snakes or monkeys. Is 100% safe and full of local culture.
You don't need tickets for this

The heart of Marrakesh for a visitor.

During the day, there's lots of entertainment but if you're taking pictures or videos, be prepared to pay as you'll be asked.

Lots of stalls selling fresh fruit drinks and nuts.

During the night, the square converts into a night food market, with many food stalls.

Jemaa El fnaa is a gateway to the medina market, lots of shops, restaurants surround this area.

On the main road, there is a taxi stand.

Majority of the vendors take cash, only a few rare large restaurants take card.

I found myself in the heart of Marrakech, right by the central market, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of enchanting. The whole area was a riot of colors, with narrow alleyways beckoning to be explored. Eating stalls lined the streets, tempting me with the most incredible smells—I'm talking about savory tagines, sizzling kebabs, the whole Moroccan culinary symphony.

And oh, the juice stalls! Sure, the prices were a bit up there, but the fresh blends of citrus and exotic fruits were an absolute treat. It was the perfect pick-me-up amid the hustle and bustle.

What I loved the most was the energy of the place. It was like stepping into a different world, with locals haggling for treasures and artisans showcasing their crafts. Every corner held a new surprise, a new experience waiting to unfold.

As the day slowly gave way to evening, I made my way to the central market just in time for the sunset. Trust me, it was a showstopper. The sky transformed into a canvas of warm colors, casting this mesmerizing glow over the market. I couldn't help but stand there, taking it all in—Marrakech at its most magical.

Sure, prices were a bit on the higher side, but for me, the whole experience was worth every dirham. The downtown district near the central market isn't just a place; it's a feeling, a sensory journey that stays with you. If you want a taste of Marrakech's soul, this is the place to be.

One of the busiest squares in the world. Moroccan life and culture in all its variety can be experienced here. A must experience in Marakkesh. This North Africa at its best. Stalls and stalls of Moroccan food comes alive from sunset. For those who are more formal , restaurants surround the square on all sides. Village artisans peddle their wares leather, pottery , paintings , spices and handicrafts in the square. Friday nights are special with hundreds of nomadic performers entertaining small groups. The square is alive with snake charmers, monkey shows, jazz singers, stilt walkers, apply henna on your hands. On onside you have a line horse carriage one can engage for stroll through the city.
Be ready to negotiate the price before doing anything including taking photographs.
