Riad Baoussala

We absolutely loved Riad Baoussala and can't recommend it highly enough. Both the accommodations and the grounds are beautifully designed, with numerous inviting corners to sit and relax, soak up the sun or find a quiet moment. The main house where the kitchen and living room are feels like a welcoming family home and the heated pool is superb. the onsite hammam, which is free to use, was a real treat too. Everyone working at Baoussala is charming, and really added to the experience. A big thank you to all!

We enjoyed our few days in Baoussala immensely. It is a perfect place to relax after the bustle of Marrakech. Dominique, Pauline, Rashid and the team are warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and the buildings sit so comfortably in the landscape and work so well together that it's hard to believe it has only been there a couple of decades. The beach is a bit of a distance away and one has to get a taxi to Essaouira but those are very minor disadvantages to an otherwise perfect place. We will be back inshallah! Paul and Blánaid. Dublin

It’s not often places get it as “right” as this place. We had the most special time with our 20 month old son. Lovingly prepared delicious meals and amazing local morrocan wines. We loved the heated pool and had a lovely time exploring and looking for cats dogs and turtles.
The staff are incredible and the grounds are wonderful. It has that boutique feeling but still has space.
I hope one day we will be back and if not I will remember this place forever !

First and foremost, I want to express how wonderful our experience was and how much we enjoyed our time there. This was our third visit to this magical place, and we will undoubtedly be back again to visit Leah & Dominique

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warm and hospitable staff who made us feel right at home, it was wonderful to catch-up with Rasheed after a number of years. They were incredibly attentive and always went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

The suite we had was fantastic and had everything we could possibly need. It was clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with a lovely traditional Moroccan feel.

The highlight of our stay, however, was seeing how happy our kids were. They were overjoyed with the outdoor swimming pool, the gardens, and all the animals that roamed the property. They also loved the delicious breakfast and the poolside lunches.

Overall, our stay at Riad Baoussala was simply fantastic, as it has been on our previous 2 visits. The staff was exceptional, the room was comfortable, and the atmosphere was magical. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to switch off.

What a wonderful experience staying at Baoussala was! Its quirky charm, combined with luxury, a wonderful staff, and a beautiful location just outside Essaouira made this the perfect choice. The food is absolutely top-notch, the pool is divine, and the woman who runs it, Leah, made us feel more like friends than hotel guests. I’ve never stayed at a hotel like Baoussala, but I will definitely be back!!!

Just amazing! We were there with our 2 years old kid and we have nothing to say but positive things. The service is amazing and everyone is so nice and carrying. The rooms all have their own charm and the Riad is unique. The pool doesn't take the wind like in other places in Essaouira. Even the food was top! Massive thanks to everyone there and also having taken care of our little Diego :)

Experience the traditional Moroccan hospitality and find a home away from home at Riad Baoussala in Essaouira. Just south of the city, the guest home is located inside a luscious gum tree forest, adding a natural element to an already eco-friendly structure. Riad Baoussala is an eco-lodge, meaning it’s designed specifically with its surrounding environment in mind. The riad touts a biomass-fired heating system, and plays an important role in the sustainability of the local community.

When I first arrived for my overnight stay, I admired the homey feel of the riad, as the atmosphere was intimate and cozy. With only six different guests room, Baoussala is small but welcoming. I was greeted by Dominique and Leah, who manage the hotel, and I loved the way the whole crew felt like one big family. Everyone I encountered welcomed me, asked how my stay was and if there was anything I needed. Saying I received personal service doesn’t even begin to explain how friendly and inviting the team is at Baoussala.

I stayed in the Oasis Room, a classically charming room, ripe with traditional Mediterranean flair. The king-size bed was probably the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in away from home. Soft, luxurious bed linens added a nice touch.

The food is utterly amazing, as the cook, Loubna only uses locally sourced produce and ingredients to craft gourmet Moroccan cuisine. I’d eat here every day if I could!

In addition to all the wonderful amenities Baoussala has to offer in the room, the outside are of the property has some of the most stand-out details I’ve seen of any hotel. Because it’s located amongst a forest, there’s thick, green gardens, with relaxing spots with to catch a break in the shade. The riad incorporates nature in both colors and architecture, and the heated pool allows for a refreshing swim. There’s even an open-air cinema for unwinding under a starry night sky. Baoussala truly is a unique experience that I’d recommend to anyone staying in Essaouira, as the personnel and accommodations are spectacular.

If you want a holiday with great food, fantastic host, staff that are so obliging they fall over backward to cater to your requests, high accommodation standards in rooms that feel like you have entered "The Arabian Nights", super clean swimming pool, easy 10 minute taxi ride to hustle and bustle of town, this is the place to come to. Children are most welcome and easily catered for food wise, as are those with food allergies etc [just let them know beforehand, not when you get there]. You can be as active or lazy as you like in the surrounding area.

Cannot recommend a visit highly enough - make sure it is an absolute minimum of 3 nights, otherwise you will miss out on that precious relaxation you need as they also have their own Hammam and a massage room.

We spent Christmas here and had the tree, the trimmings and a fabulous feast.

It was heaven on earth. We haven't made it back to Morocco, but we remember our time at Baoussala so fondly, where our son celebrated his eighth birthday and they made him a wonderful cake!

Great place to stay, very relaxing with a lot of green spaces, and different sets where you can have your meals or a drink (indoor, outdoor, pool, garden, patio, rooftop etc etc), the staff is so friendly and professional, the rooms are great, as well as the food

Great haven close to fantastic waves of Sidi Kaouki. Team are lovely as is the compound. Make sure you visit the Hamman.

Amazingly beautiful and quiet place, only 6 rooms, heated pool, spa, Hamman and great food. Uniquely calm location, wonderful staff and hostess/owner.

Aucune photo ne peut rendre justice au lieu qui a un charme fou.
Coup de cœur absolu pour les chambres au mobilier chiné.

Nous recommandons chaudement le Riad, même si on aurait bien envie que l’adresse reste secrète et uniquement pour nous !
Baoussala est un véritable petit paradis, à la fois spacieux et intime, où il y fait très bon vivre, y compris avec des enfants en bas âge ! On y mange très très bien et les prestations sont tops (piscine, massage, sport…).
Les gens sont adorables et très accueillants. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés !
