Amazing Restaurant. This Riad is authentic decorated creating a nice atmosphere. Prices are a bit high comparing with other places but the food and service were Top. We were Lucky because there were a celebration with local music! It made our evening very cozy and special. You pay more but you get more. The portions are more than enough!
We were surprised of this place

A 'must go to' restaurant in Marrakech.
Fantastic old environment, which is equalled by the excellent food and service. Excellent value for money - I thought they had omitted the aperitifs and wine from the bill, but was informed that they were included in the price of the food.

Came here on a Friday night and had called in advance to make a reservation for 7:30pm. We were worried that we will not be able to find the place, so we ended up showing up at 7pm and there were able to seat us right away. We were the first people at the restaurant and even went up to the terrace to see the sunset! Around 8pm is when the restaurant was almost full. I am not sure if you could just walk in without a reservation, I’d highly recommend calling in advance. Also, super random, but I thought the terrace during sunset is perfect for a proposal, so if you are looking for a cool spot to propose this restaurant may be it!! 😄

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Service top notch, with every possible attention to detail even including rose water to wash hands... very inexpensive considering that not only food is included in the prefix menu but also a bottle of Moroccan Rose wine (which was surprisungly refreshing and decent). Ambiance is unsurpassed. Pictures are accurate, the riad is very well maintained and appointed. Food is fantastic, perhaps a bit too much, but quality taste and presentation are on the point. As far as difficulty finding it - we didn't have any problems using either Google maps or map me. Yes, the tiny passageways leading towards it are not the cleanest but unsafe they were not. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Stop reading reviews and just GO! I have never been treated so wonderfully at a restaurant before! And we had an angry, hungry jet lagged toddler with us and they still treated us like royalty! Such friendly staff! And the food was amazing!!! Best food we’ve had in Morocco! We ordered the “Diner Gastronomique” which apparently is supposed to be for one person but I cannot imagine there is a single human being on earth who can finish it alone. Me, my husband and my toddler together could barely finish it! It came with 8 appetizers, 3 main entrees, and 6 desserts and tea! I was a little worried about trying pigeon but it was SO good! The decor is also really cool! The building has existed since the 1550! I’m so in love with this restaurant and can’t wait to go again!

I am absolutely delighted to have discovered this place! The stunning 17th-century Ryad is a true gem. I opted for the petit menu and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. Not only was the quantity impressive, but the flavors were simply exquisite. The Moroccan cuisine served here surpassed any I have tried before. The attention to detail and the skillful preparation of the dishes truly made the dining experience memorable. The ambiance of the house added to the overall charm, making it a perfect setting for a delightful meal. I couldn't be happier with my visit and highly recommend this place for anyone seeking an exceptional Moroccan culinary adventure.

Where to begin with Ksar Essaoussan...I suppose from the start. I came across this establishment on wanderlog, a website that seemingly compliles its lists of best restaurants from blogs and other travel sites.

The location on google maps was accurate, but the entrance itself was only discovered after exploring a brief series of dark alleys and assessing a number of nondescript doorways. We eventually found the correct door thanks to a small plaque bearing the restuarant's name. We knocked and a tall gentleman wearing a djellaba opened the door and revealed a dimly lit interior. He bent under the low doorway and greeted us with a smile.

Upon entering, I noticed that the narrow hallway was solely candlelit. It then opened out into the dining area, which was situated in a courtyard. It was nicely decorated and the waiters were dressed in traditional uniforms...and now im getting bored of writing this review, so ill cut to the chase.

The ambience was great, the waiters well drilled (it felt like we were being served by butlers in someones house). The first course was a 'Moroccan salad', which was like a decontructed salad with individual vegetables on their own plates upon a tiered tray. The veg appeared to have been pickled slightly and seasoned. It was fun to eat, and one or two of the plates were quite delicious, but i wouldnt say amazing.

I had the couscous with beef and veg for mains. I would probably say it was the best couscous ive had on the trip, but not by a long way. The chicken tagine was okay, but a bit salty.

Dessert was fine. The pastille was nice and though the orange salad was just orange and cinnamon, it was all i needed after a large main.

Overall, i thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I would say it is worth it for the experience (the service, the context and design of it all) than the food. The price was high for marrakech, but its on the website so no surprises there.

If you want somewhere nice to relax one evening and fill your belly, and dont mind the cost then i would highly recommend this establishment.

Not normally one to write reviews, but this restaurant and service warranted one.

Granted we had the whole place to ourselves, but the food, service and generosity of the people who worked there made for special evening for my girlfriend and myself.

Can’t help but recommend this place. Close to 5 courses, a bottle of wine, water and tea to finish off, all for a very reasonable price.

Fully worthy of 5 Stars.

Verrrry tasty morrocan salads, couscous with beef had very little meat.

They have complete menus starting from 350 MAD which include salads, main course and dessert.

If it's not our local friends invited us over, we don't even know such amazing place.

Ksar Essaoussan Restaurant offers traditional Moroccan cuisine in a unique and beautiful setting. The restaurant is located within a restored kasbah, features stunning architectural details. We get to enjoy a range of dishes inspired by traditional Moroccan flavors and cooking techniques, including tagines, couscous, and grilled meats. (Lamb is superb.) The restaurant also offers a range of vegetarian options and a selection of refreshing mint teas.

Overall, Ksar Essaoussan Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the best of Moroccan cuisine in a truly special setting.

Beautiful atmospheric building, amazing service and tasty food! Really good value too. Huge portions so you might want to consider sharing some bits/getting the ‘petite’ menu. Or just take your time and enjoy getting full!

A gem in the middle of a very modest neighborhood. We almost couldn't find the place but when we arrived inside it was pure amazement. From the highly trained staff to the traditional and local taste...first restaurant in Marrakesh to give such good vibes. We were even lucky to have a musician all night in front of us The menu is limited and not cheap, but it's really worth a try!

Everything about this evening was wonderful! We arrived to an empty restaurant (I'm assuming with it being winter) but despite this we decided to take a seat as it was a beautiful riad and the staff were very welcoming upon arrival.

We were seated in the central courtyard. My boyfriend and I both chose a set dinner menu (which was essentially a 5 course meal for a very good price!) and the food was excellent! Each course we were able to taste some local moroccan cuisine with the whole riad to ourselves. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly, I couldn't fault the experience one bit.

I would recommend anyone staying in marrakesh to dine here one evening.

Thank you to all the lovely staff for having us this evening!!

First and foremost this isn't a cheap location but the food is delicious, the ambiance is impeccable and the service is fabulous. It was recommended to us by our Riad and expected it to be a tourist spot, but it was authentic and a great evening for me and my wife. I highly recommend going when you're hungry because at 100 kg I wasn't able to finish all the food. Warning, it is a little hard to find down an alley.

Such a surprising, but great experience!
You have to knock the door, the waiter is opening and the experience starts.
The staff were ultra polite and with perfect manners.
The food were delicious and you have a aperitif+a bottle of wine included.

The prices are more then fair.

Related to the 1* review below:
Of course it’s only a course menu, but this you would have known if you would check the menu outside of the door before you enter.

It’s worth a visit for sure.
Thank you.
