For me going to museums is all about keeping an open mind and even if I pick up a tiny bit of original thought or something I did not know ow the price of admission is worth it. If you are a musician or like music, this is a must. It is focussed on old musical instruments and has videos of traditional and current music of artists in Morocco. Added bonus is the gorgeous building and took lots of photos

This was my favourite thing in Meknes. The information in here is very hard to find elsewhere. Great price, 30 dirham. The setting, building and gardens are truly beautiful.

This museum is an excellent showcase of the types of music played in the different parts of Morocco and the history of the varied instruments. Even if you don’t have a background in music, I think you would enjoy this museum. In a beautifully restored building with a lovely courtyard. When the French were in charge, they used this as a hospital. Explanation cards are in English, Arabic, & French. Highly recommend!

If there were no displays it would be worth it to visit this building just to see the interior. It is truly one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever been in. The displays of musical instruments and costumes are very well done. The explanations are in Arabic, English, and French. Every room is playing music of the type displayed in the room. There are some videos. It is really one of the best museum experiences I've ever had.

Very picturesque museum featuring Moroccan music and musical culture. If you like to read and learn it will take you about 1.5 hours to go through🤓 If you are a boring person who just likes to look through exhibits quickly and take a few pictures, then about a half hour 😸

One of the best museums, you can spend more than three hours if music is of interest to you.

It has music instruments from all over Morocco and samples of music to listen to. Very rich with both.

It is also a piece of architectural art since the place is a beautiful palace.

By itself makes the trip to Miknas worth it.

Enchanting Moroccan Architecture

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the museum, and I must say that the experience left me utterly amazed. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped in the rich beauty of Moroccan architecture and design. The museum not only boasts an impressive collection of exhibits but also showcases a stunning fusion of history and artistry within its very walls.

The exterior of the museum itself is a testament to the grandeur of Moroccan architecture. Elaborate patterns, intricate mosaics, and exquisite detailing adorned every corner of the building. It's as if the edifice itself was a masterpiece, inviting visitors to appreciate the skill and craftsmanship of Moroccan artisans.

If you're not into the music, just go there for the beautiful building - it's worth it! (Esp. now as so many other sights are closed for renovation.)

Excellent museum focusing on the history, evolution and performance of Moroccan music and dance. Extremely strong presentation and display, with considerable videos and songs playing in many venues and mediums. A great museum in itself, and considering the very reasonable entrance fee, this is a must-see for folks staying in Meknes.

A small museum in a beautiful building exhibiting different kinds of Moroccan music. Lots of audiovisuals to make it more engaging. If you’re remotely interested in music, the 30dh entrance fee is more than worth it.

Excellent museum for the 30 dirham they charge foreigners. Recently remodeled with new technology and reading signs. Could spend 1-2 hours here. Mainly about historical music.
