Former Ērgļi railway station

Former railway station, now renovated and opened as a cafe. I only popped in for coffee and dessert, but the menu, by the look of it, was full of different choices. Plenty outside seating in summer. Some background music was missing.

This was an amazing find on the way back to Riga. Very nice restaurant in the old train station "Ērgļi". We tried catfish with risotto and lasagna - both meals were excellent. This is a must visit when traveling further East into Vidzeme.

Thank to Maris Olte family and friends for keeping the old railway station memories. The renovation job that is done is amazing. Worth to visit!

Mind blowing food experience in this small, green cozy town. Trying the plate is a must as well as the porridge for the main. But be careful to leave some room for the dessert with a crazy name. Btw, naming of the food is a separate form of art here. Highly recommended.

Interesting historical place to visit in Ērgļi, nice nature around. Fantastic lake near by.

Very lovely place and enthusiastic people who try to develop old railway station to a pearl of Vidzeme. You can get good coffee there and tips what to do around.

I'm glad places like old train stations get a second life! Worth visiting on a day the Cafe is open.

Bijušo Ērgļu dzelzceļa staciju apsaimnieko biologs Māris Olte. Tajā viņš ierīkojis restorānu/ kafejnīcu, kas strādā pēc pieprasījuma (tūristu grupas) vai nedēļas nogalēs. Mūsu tūristu grupa šajā vietā ēda vēlās brokastis un pusdienas. Brokastīs bija omlete, grilēta vistas fileja, siers, svaigu zaļumu salāti. Visgaršīgākais bija sviests ar lakšiem. Kafiju gatavoja pats saimnieks- bija arī late. Pusdienās- garneļu salāti ar daudz zaļumiem, pīles krūtiņa ar kartupeļu kroketēm un ceptiem burkāniem, krem brule ar upeņu sorbertu. Padzerties varēja avota ūdeni. Māris Olte mūs veda nelielā pārgājienā (6, 7km). Objekti nav nekādi īpaši ievērības cienīgi, bet tos interesantus padara stāstījums un saruna. Siltā laikā ir iespējama ekskursija ar caurspīdīgām laivām pa ezeru. Ir iespēja nomāt elektroriteņus. Mums bija arī ekskursija uz Ērgļu pilskalnu. Ir iespēja apmeklēt netālu esošo savdabīgo Bumbiermuižu (neparasts interjers, kas nesaskan ar nelielās ēkas ārējo izskatu), kuras saimnieki prezentē augu destilātus, augu limonādes, paštaisītas ziepes, ar vasku piesūcinātus maisiņus produktu glabāšanai.
