Shady Hills Hunnasgiriya

One of the best places we’ve visited in Sri Lanka.

The location is amazing, there is no cell or WiFi reception that allows you to completely disconnect from outside world.

The service is superb, they even went on to give a dish outside of their set menu because the set menu didn’t had a vegetarian option the day we visited.

The rooms are specious and clean. I suggest you take room number 13 which provides the best view overlooking the valley down below with a spectacular view of the sunrise.

The food is also really great, as if they were home made. The staff is super friendly and super supportive.

There are two roads taking you to the hotel. I suggest you take both one when you check in and one when you check out. Which provides you two completely different experiences.

I also suggest going to the viewpoint which is 6KM past the hotel with a spectacular view of the valley.

I highly recommend this hotel! I stayed here with my family and we were treated so kindly. They took the time to make sure we had everything we needed and really went that extra step to help us out. It was my grandmas birthday and they helped us set up some decorations be brought, they really went above and beyond to make our stay such an enjoyable one. On our way there our van broke down and they even offered to pick us up with their transport to make it convenient for us. The food was delicious and the portions were so large, amazing quality and variety. The rooms were very spacious and luxurious. Incredible to wake up to the sunrise right outside our room and there were so many areas to enjoy with loved ones. The pictures don’t do the hotel justice for how stunning the views were. Wish we stayed longer. Thank you to the staff for their amazing hospitality, we will definitely back in the future ☺

A hotel situated with a scenic view. The food and service was great. The location is quite difficult to access, and there is no network coverage. Nevertheless it was a memorable stay.

Everything about the hotel is exceptional. It was a clean, stylish with excellent service. It was a friendly staff, lovely and first great impression of the hotel. It was s very beautiful, calm and relaxing location surrounded by a mountains.One of our relaxing stay in our 1 month holiday.

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a lunch gathering with a diverse group of foreigners, each with their own unique food preferences and allergies. The hotel staff in Colombo orchestrated the occasion with remarkable precision, ensuring that every attendee felt accommodated and satisfied. From the meticulous planning by the booking hotel manager to the seamless execution by the front staff and managers, their professionalism was truly commendable.

I must particularly applaud the chefs and kitchen staff for their culinary expertise, as the food served was not only delicious but also catered to the various dietary needs of our group. Thanks to their efforts, everyone left the meal feeling content and appreciative of the thoughtful attention given to their individual requirements.

I stayed one day with my wife and son. They were very happy on the place selected. Hotel staff are very kind, friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable with all required facilities. Foods were very delicious. Although buffet was not arranged for dinner, Shady Hills set menu was very delivious and we enjoyed..

Place was well maintained and blessed with very good natural beauty surrounded by mountains. Night and morning sun rise is very attractive. Sudden coverage of entire area with mist in the afternoon was amazing.

There is no reliable way or place to buy retail goods within 13KM radius. Bring whatever you need with you before going to the hotel.

What a nice place to stay. I stayed two nights with my wife ,April 2024 and we enjoyed the cinematic view there. And we were told that if you wanna enjoy the foggy or rainy weather November and December would be perfect.
Need to mention that staff is so helpful. Uditha from the restaurant and Bandara from the room service were so helpful.

The tour to "diya keralla" with Sampath was excellent - he was both kind and professional. Overall, our experience was top-notch! 💯

The place was perfect and the experience was superb, they have a great customer service and we loved it. The food was delicious and everything they have are in large portion. 2 could eat in 1 haha. However the road to the place is a bit bumpy and not ideal for regular cars. Better arrange transportation by the hotel as they have the perfect heavy duty ride for the trip.

The hotel itself is very clean and modern. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and all of the amenities you need for a relaxing stay. I especially enjoyed the view of the mountains from my room.

The staff at the were truly exceptional. They are all very friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to make sure that you have a pleasant stay. I was particularly impressed with them arranging a surprise for one of us having a birthday.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Shady Hills. The hotel is clean, modern, and conveniently located. Shady Hills is overall one of the best hotels I've visited. The rooms, the service, the food and the tranquility were second to none. The staff (Especially Udith) went far out of their way to serve our every need and make us feel like royalty. They have a focus on the environment and sustainability, and support the local community. Stay here for an experience like none other in Sri Lanka.

Salute to all staffs at Shady Hills Hotel. From the trip was started to the end it was amazing. Staffs are very friendly and smiling. Food was very tasty service crew was friendly. Special thanks to Ex. Chef and the assistant staffs. And the Room boy was assisted us to decorate our Bed and my wife got really surprise.

We spent our holiday on April just after the New Year season , perfect vacation hide out for one who searching calm , quiet , misty cold place , Hotel location was just wow ❤ Misty Hills and the view from the rooms just incredible , mind relaxing place ❤ Hotel staff was very friendly , Manager and the team treated us very gently ❤ food was delicious and tasty , pool area was very clean and perfect place to spend the evening 🏊 , overall very great place to spend the vacation ❤

This is a HIGHLY recommended option for a very nice getaway. The sunrise and the scenery are priceless. It’s also good for family since they have adjacent rooms. The Manager and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. They don’t have good cell phone coverage which makes it more great to to have some quality time with family. They serve Sri Lankan and continental food. We will definitely come again.

Shady Hills is set in beautiful location. They have really thought through how best to capture the wonderful scenery that surrounds the area.

It's a calm and tranquil place to relax as well as travel to near by attractions, so the best of both worlds really

Would recommend staying for a minimum of 2 nights. Easy to find. We went in a group of 7, a range of ages, and Hunnasgiriya was suitable for all of us to stay and enjoy.

The facilities were lovely, clean, the rooms were incredibly spacious as were the bathrooms. We particularly enjoyed our time on the sofas in our individual glass pods adjacent to each room.

The staff were kind and attentive. The service was brilliant.

Will definitely be recommending this to my friends and colleagues both in Sri lanka and the UK

I stayed one day with my wife.we both enjoyed our that day with this calming place.The staff was very kind and they were treated us with pleasant smiling faces always.Specially we met a very pleasant guy that work in the restaurant.He treated us his best,so thank you.On the other hand we have to thank to the owner of the hotel for creating like that beautiful hotel.The morning view is wonderful,we saw the sunrise nicely.We could had to hear the birds sounds and the eco sounds very nicely.Wonderful mind relaxing place we never met.Highly recommended.
