Ocean Tribe Surf Camp in Sri Lanka | Surf & Yoga Retreat in Sri Lanka

Amazing! We stayed here for 1 week and booked the surf & yoga camp. It was definitely one of the best parts about our Sri Lanka trip. Not only did we have amazing surf lessons, Yoga lessons and really good breakfast and dinner but we also felt right at home. The community dinners and nice people all around immediately created positive vibes all and made our week here absolutely memorable. The staff was very friendly and the yoga and surfing instructors were extremely helpful and especially for the surfing we felt safe and improved our skills in each class. Can only recommend and look forward to coming back one day!

We had the best time at ocean tribe. The rooms are spacious and very clean, the Pool and dining areas are beautiful and the food is delicious. Nice relaxed vibe, no "party-camp". Most important the surf lessons are great. Having max 4 students per coach really helps improving and they really pay attention to the level of each single Person so you get encouraged, yet challenged and make progress. Coaches are super nice too. Overall big recommendation and we will be back one day.

My Experience at Ocean Tribe was fabulous. Stayed in April 2024 for 10 days (Surf & Yoga package).

1- Rooms: Clean, quite, cozy, AC, balcony, hot shower, clean toilet.
2- Surf classes: on average 4 people per group which I found it extremely helpful specially being a beginner surfer, I managed to stand up on the board eventually.
3- Food: Healthy, multiple options were available. Takes time to arrive because they prepare everything from scratch, no stored food. Free drinking water on camp
4- Vibe: Friendly people, open minded, met extremely nice people. Thanks to the Owner Milan for his welcoming and containing energy.
5- Yoga: A nice way to start your evening with relaxing yet powerful class on the rooftop.

Thank you for the unforgettable experience, will surely visit again. :)

Staying at Ocean Tribe was an amazing experience. The whole place was decorated beautifully, from the pool, to the rooms to the shared spaces. Everyone shared dinner together which was a lovely touch, such a friendly and family vibe. No one ever wants to leave! The surf lessons were incredible, and the yoga was divine. Thanks so much Milan and Becky for a wonderful time, i enjoyed it so much :)

A really good place for surfing and yoga.
The place itself has a nice vibe. The pool and common areas are relaxing and the staff is keeping good care of everything.
It was the nicest accommodation we had in 4 weeks of Sri Lanka, the food is very tasty and the coffee top notch.
We had great surfing classes with Manu, Charlie and Matt and Yoga with Annalu.
The host Milan always keeps an eye on the details and has some really good tips for surfing and stuff to do in the Weligama area.
What could be improved in our eyes would be the breakfast time. If you go surfing at 9 and you order at 8 its really tight with the breakfast. If the bar would open at 7.30 there would be enough time.

Not sure where to start with this review as I had the the time of my life at Ocean Tribe and it's hard to put into words just how amazing the whole experience was. I spent 3 weeks at Ocean Tribe and from day one I was made to feel so welcome from all the staff, especially the lovely Gwen and the owners Milan and Becky. The rooms were lovely and the food was so delicious.

The surfing was unbelievable and the coaches were so good. Special shout out to Manuel who helped me so much with my progress. I have stayed at a few surf camps round the world in the last few years and Ocean Tribe was by far the best for so many reasons. If you are trying surfing for the first time or you are looking to improve your skills then look no further!!! Ocean Tribe is that dream surf camp that you are looking for!!!!!!

We spent 5 nights at Ocean Tribe Surf Camp, and it was absolutely amazing! Great food, friendly staff, beautiful rooms, and a really serene area to relax, eat, and chill by the pool. I especially want to highlight the fantastic spirit and friendliness of the owner, Milan. Even when your lesson starts early in the morning, Milan is always motivated and smiling. During the surf lessons, he was extremely passionate and notably patient! 👌 I can highly recommend this excellent surf camp and hope to see Milan, Becky, and the rest of the crew again soon.

What a wonderful place! Milan, the owner and the whole is super friendly and they try to make your stay perfect! The relaxing but great community vibe at Ocean Tribe is very much what I was looking for. Also the surf lessons were fun and I learned a lot. We had a pool session for surf theory and a video analysis which was very helpful too! Will definitely come back🥰🌊

It really couldn’t have been better. I had such an amazing week at Ocean Tribe. When I had originally booked I was nervous because the price was so much less than other surf camps around and I was trying to figure out the catch. Turns out there was no catch and Ocean Tribe had everything I was looking for. I had a deluxe private room and it was spacious, clean, and comfortable with working AC. The food was also incredible and it was a fun atmosphere. The surfing was organized and convenient and they made an effort to evaluate everyone’s skill level and make sure you were in a group that was appropriate. Also I was impressed that there was a 4 student to 1 instructor ratio MAX and most of the time it was 3 or 2 students to 1 instructor. I would definitely recommend this camp and will be back.

I spent 7 days surfing at Ocean Tribe and it was brilliant. I was welcomed instantly and everything was so smooth and professional. Milan and his team are always available and often get in on the fun throughout the day. I surfed twice daily, a sunrise surf and again in the late afternoon. This surfing routine worked perfectly as it allowed me to chill and do my own thing throughout the day. The vibe at the camp was always high and the surf lessons were always great value. I highly recommend ocean tribe. Your surfing is guaranteed to improve and you’ll leave with a bunch of new mates.

We had a great time at Ocean Tribe. The surf coaching was excellent and worked well for both of us (beginner and advanced). The daily communal dinner delicious and most importantly, there was a real family feel amongst all the guests, which was promoted by the staff. Milan and Becky were always available to help sort out any issues and were very helpful via email in the lead up to our stay with all the questions and logistics we had. Our only regret is the we didn't book to stay for longer! We can't wait to go back!

It was my very first surf camp I have ever attended. Milan and his crew made me feel very welcome from the very beginning. Awesome surf instructors, nice food and a very relaxed atmosphere in the camp. It’s definitely not a party place, like other camps, which I highly appreciated. Will definitely come back to further improve my surfing!

So this was quite an experience for me in Weligama. Starting very low with a nasty accident growing to one of the best surfing sessions I had in my life! Milan and the crew at the Ocean Tribe were there for me in every situation. Helping and supporting me in every matter. Besides the surfing, this place has a great vibe! It‘s not a party place and the people that were there were a cool bunch of people in a good age mix. And this was exactly what I was looking for.

Everything was taking care of, from the boards, the transfer to the spots, the breakfast after the session, the very delicious and rich dinner and also some entertainment from time to time.

Overall this was a great experience! The most impressive thing for me was the incredible vibe we had.

Thanks Milan for everything! I will let my wounds heal a bit and will come back when I’m back in LK for sure.

We spent a week at the Ocean Tribe Surf Camp in November 2023 and booked the surf and yoga package. I can highly recommend the Ocean Tribe Surf Camp. The team was super friendly and helpful in all areas. The surf lessons were a lot of fun, and we get super helpful tips. So I was able to improve my surfing skills during the week. The video analysis helps also a lot for my improvements. The yoga sessions at the end of the day were also beneficial for my flexibility. We always enjoyed the breakfast and dinner, and I would have liked to stay a bit longer because it was very tasty. In general, the vibe between the staff and guests was very friendly, and we felt very welcomed. I also loved the funny conversations during the day and the relaxed atmosphere. Many thanks to the cool Ocean Tribe Surf Camp Team. At the end i can only say: We would love to come back!

The ocean tribe surfcamp was a really nice experience for me. Everything is very well organized and you can improve your surfing a lot. Thanks to Milan for being such a good surf instructor and always made me feel safe in the water. The camp has very fast WiFi as well, which makes it a perfect choice for digital nomads. Will definitely come back soon and can totally recommend it to anyone, who wants to bring their surfing to the next level 🤙🏼

We loved our stay at Ocean Tribe; it's an incredibly special place. The surf instructors were very patient, fun and informative. The food, accommodation, pool, atmosphere are awesome and we can't recommend this place enough for yoga, surfing and meeting some fab people.

Had a great week of surfing class at the ocean tribe surfcamp.
The staff was really friendly and always helpful in any way.
The camp is located close to the beach so there are only short walks until a class can begin.
I stayed in the dorm which was modern, clean and had the best shower I had on this trip so far.
Most important is also that you can find really good surf teachers here, they were patient, gave some good advice and were fun to hang around with in the evening after class. The overall vibe in this camp was highly positive which I guess all the guests there do enjoy :)
Also the food we got which was included, was very good every day: it was a buffet and there was always plenty of everything for everybody.
All this you get for a price that's cheaper than most of the other Surf Camps in the Weligama area.
I say thanks to Milan and his whole crew for making my first surf camp such a nice experience and can highly recommend this place..would always love to come back here!

We had a fabulous week at ocean tribe and it was very hard to say good bye to everyone! Milan and Becci are the most caring and friendly owners you can imagine and the vibe of the camp is just super friendly. The pool was an amazing spot to hang out and talk to other guests in between surf lessons. The food is great, prices are absolutely reasonable and the surfing lessons were really great as well. It’s the best thing you can do to learn surfing and improve your skills at the coast of Sri Lanka and we are already planning to come back one day! Thank you for everything! ❤ caro and richie

Me and my boyfriend did the week long surf and yoga package. Him being an intermediate surfer and me a beginner. The instructors are great and take you out in small groups. The rooms and food provided were also fab. I personally loved the yoga with Annaluna. Would highly recommend staying here.

Ocean Tribe do small groups for surf classes which is amazing! You learn a lot, get great help in the water and feel safe in the water. Yoga is good and a perfect way to stretch the body after a surf class.

Rooms are clean, cozy and dry (some hotels in Sri Lanka have very humid rooms). Breakfast is a blast, with so many nice things to choose from!

Ocean Tribe also collaborates with the friendliest tuk tuk drivers, who are always welcoming with the biggest smiles.

Most of all, Ocean Tribe have such an amazing atmosphere, where everyone (both staff and guests) are so friendly and welcoming! Thank you for everything Milan!
