Ariya Rest House

Amazing place, well worth the price. 6 of us big guys stayed in here and it was excellent. The host is extremely friendly and very accommodating. She allowed us to cook outside the rooms and made sure we had all our supplies. Highly recommended.

We were recommended this place by a local, and it turned out to be the best Sri Lankan curry we had on our trip. Despite arriving late in the evening, they reopened the kitchen for us without hesitation. The service from the whole family was fantastic, extremely warm and kind people. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Delicious buffet, good value and very friendly staff! Lots of great Sri Lankan food, the aubergines/eggplant, chicken dishes and fried fish were excellent in particular.

Biggest buffet I’ve seen for 8 dollars pp. good variety for vegetarian things. All delicious food. Slightly more expensive than other buffets we have seen in the country but the variety here is also much bigger.

We visited for lunch and food here was incredible! Ariya Rest House provide a huge selection of buffet food and having tried almost every dish I can honestly say that it was all delicious. Couldn't recommend it enough - 100% worth a visit!

Good meal for reasonable price. You can have actually A MEAT which is not obvious in this country. You can take a big chunks of chicken and beef and pork and all is included in price. In comparison to sh*t called "chicken rice" when you have little chicken in this place you will provide enough protein to your muscles.

I checked out this place for food as they left a card with my driver while I was looking at the wonders of Polonnaruwa.

While I looked at the menu, I was unconvinced and was about to leave; then came Ishani and asked me what I wanted. My kids were fuzzy eaters, so I asked her if she could make strong hoppers. She said yes with a smile on her face. I said I’ll call her later and confirm. I called her in the evening and asked her if it was too late to order and come for dinner. She said come over. I went there in an hour. She received us with a smile and offered freshly made strong hoppers and lentil curry.

Oh, the price was very reasonable. I think it was even lower than in other places.

All that mattered to me was the excellent service she provided. I highly recommend visiting this place. Ishani will take care of your food requirements with a great smile.

Hidden place but highly recommendable!
We had lunch at Ariya's on a round trip together with our tour guide and driver. All of us were welcomed like friends. The buffet lunch was delicious and of great variety, including desserts. I recommend also trying curry's with things we Europeans hardly get to taste elsewhere like Jackfruit or Durian.

We have spent a wonderful day at Ariya Resort. calm place, with kind and friendly hospitality and delicious food. We would like to recommend Polonnaruwa as the best place to stay in Polonnaruwa.

we came back for dinner after enjoying a delicious lunch here. would especially recommend to try the baby jackfruit which they harvest from the threes in their garden. we were treated like family by the staff and owner family, a big big thank you! :-)

we stoped here for lunch before going to the temples. amazing buffe. all local food but mainly not spicy so it’s for all tastes. the owner, a lovely and strong woman, treated us as king and queen. 100% recomendable.

We came here to lunch, and it was the best Sri Lankan food we’ve had so far! So yummie!!! The eggplant dish is my favorite!

We had a buffet lunch. We were a group of 2 US, 1 Chinese and 2 Indian. We all loved the simple and very tasty food. They had variety of vegetarian food also which were traditionally make. It was like home food. All staff look happy and helpful nature.

One fabulous restaurant. Whether one requires Sri Lankan or food of one's choice. The location is out of a fairytale. But for an urgent eater, rather hidden. But the two guys who educate the city viewers, do a grand job. The food with it's extensive mouth watering dishes,is a gastronomical delight. And its host Shani... The live wire behind it deserves all the kudos and more. I shall most certainly be back.

No experience with sleeping here, but found this in the lonely planet for lunch near Pollonaruwa. Better use google maps to get here, even while it is not far from the main road.
Excellent lunch buffet, mostly used by tourist groups, for a very affordable price (2000 rps pp). Expect home-made fresh cooked local dishes, some which are pretty spicy for those who like that.

We asked them to pack us lunch for take away! Super friendly service and they gave us such huge portions ! There was such a variety of curries with our rice. Amazing ! So tasty 😋 thank you !

I visited here a year ago. Excellent place to stay when you are at Pollonnaruwa. Prices are reasonable; It would be better to call them directly and make your reservation. Foods are yummy, and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. They will provide you with friendly service; I like the young girl who always welcomes the customers wearing a smile.
