Native medicine, acupuncture and aromatherapy treatment are the last option many would choose, as we live in a world where people believe every word that’s typed on social media and google. It’s sadly the last choice that one would opt for after other methods of treatment fail: despite having spent a fortune on them.

I’ve been in and out of “Healing Hands” bringing in my friends, family and friends of friends who have had various ailments to be treated and healed by Dr. Thanuja Fonseka Abeynayake. It really doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to appreciate some one like her. I could do a dozen write ups at a drop of a hat, but this penning down is all about a long overdue appreciation of her service without fanfare.
Having experienced the care and love she had when she treated my daughter who is a CP child, I thought (back then in 2006), that writing about her to the papers, was the best way of saying thank you. I always knew my daughter’s limitations and how much I could expect from the treatment that was done for her. However, what I didn’t expect was the therapy that I got, along with my daughter, physically and mentally through Dr. Thanuja’s sisterly advice and care that would last for a lifetime. As social media has hit every nook and cranny of our lives, I remain in gratitude to all what she has done to my family and friends, and this write up once again is to purely thank her on behalf of all who got healed by her including myself.

I have beautiful memories and moments in her neat and spotless clinic. I have taken many friends of mine who have received instant relief, while some take time to heal due to the severity of their condition. I’ve seen none leaving the clinic without a smile on their face! Whether it’s the spinal cord, spondylosis, arthritis, neck injuries, hands, knees, in short, or any part of your body, the relief is tangible, visible, and guaranteed. I know of a cancer patient who gave up on Chemotherapy and purely trusted Dr. Thanuja’s treatment. The anxiety, stress and brokenness of these patients are also addressed by her with no additional cost on the bill. Patients walk in and out, some with help, some in an ambulance, and others carried into the clinic in excruciating pain, howling, and whimpering, only until she starts her treatment. I have watched how their faces change, the howling stops, and they fall into sleep peacefully, without any oral medicine given to them. Even though only a few would have patience to continue treatment till the end the wait is truly worth it. There was a time that I would assist her in the clinic, hence every word I write is of what I have seen from my own eyes and not heard from someone else. Healing and treatment clinics are widely marketed on social media, however my write up is all about sharing my own experience and doesn’t fall in line with any kind of marketing.
I’ve seen patients going down on their knees and worshipping her. Embarrassed and humbly she would say “I can only do the treatment; the healing is from God”. Most often I hear the phrases - “Doctor ta godak pin” and “May God bless you doctor” from the patients who are being treated by her. My prayers and blessings would be those exact words, and I add “May God bless her healing hands, keep her safe and give her strength to continue her mission of healing and mending people and their hearts”!
