Great place to learn about the past of Sufi. Early in the morning and in the evening visit recommended. Start your walk from the eastern entrance with the gates mimicking old gates take a walk in and around the mausoleum, visit the underground mosque, learn about Sufi practices and finish in the southern gates.

Turkistan's water show is well worth seeing. Lots of beautiful Kazakh 'Ханшайым's and handsome 'батыр's in traditional clothing in
little boats with suitable music. No ticket needed but get there fairly early 7.00 till 7.40 ish.

The mausoleum of the Sufi poet and philosopher, Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, is the most impressive building in Turkistan. Its interior dome measures 18 meters in diameter and us the biggest in central Asia. The premises are free to enter, but to visit the interior chambers, there is a ticket booth before entering. It's highly recommended that the place should be on top of the list of all visitors to Turkistan.

Getting off a bus stop, we entered by the side of the mausoleum. Walking toward the complex is not too hot because it's prawling with green grass.

Once inside the walled complex, you can take pictures outside the structure. Even if it was summer, the wind was blowing and it felt refreshing.

To enter, we paid 500 tenge. When we got in, the dome was painted a simple white. There are several halls that you can visit from there.

Great place. Construction around it is ongoing full speed (Sept 2020). Once completed it is promising to be a major attraction in the region. With nice boulevards, fountains, amphitheater.

UNESCO world Heritage site from Teimury period. It was build by the order of Amir Timur out of his respect to Khoja Ahmed although this was not on Timur’s territory. This stunning Architecture was build by Persian architect from Shiraz, Tabriz and Hamedan.

Amazing 14th century mausoleum, left unfinished with the death of Timur. Construction methods still visible and one can look back in time.
