食堂と喫茶 poppotei

Looking for a place to dine, first thing that popped up in Maps was this place. A lot and good reviews. I saw the buta don, and I was sold. I need to have this pork in a bowl, I really like it! I came in just before closing time, but without hesitation I was being served, so I was really happy with that. Service is quick and easy, cause the owners speak English too! I got myself the medium size ¥1280 bowl, which is sufficient for an average person.

The staff are very polite and understanding. We wanted to takeaway food before the train arrived so they suggested what can be prepared quickly and will still taste delicious after some time. The buta don was excellent, packed really nicely :)

Delicious meal and lovely atmosphere! My husband loved the pork dish and the staff was able to make me a gluten free dish with vegetables, rice, and soup.

Super lovely crew, delicious food (the curry is amazing and very possibly vegan, it might contain butter. I'm not super strict here in Japan and didn't ask ;-) ) and cozy atmosphere. We came back here 3 times! (Edit: 4 times)

Got a quick lunch here. Ordered the local grilled Mashu pork don and fried pork don. They were SO delicious. Pork was grilled perfectly, juicy and tender, topped with a slightly sweet sauce. Finished the whole bowl in 5 minutes lol.

We reached Mashu after a long drive. Found this restaurant with good review for Butadon. It was the best we have ever had. And it helped to charged us up from our weary drive.

Great food, nice place with a modern vibe. I had a pork bowl and it was awesome! For a drink, wild grape soda was perfect if you like sweet drinks. If not, they also serve specialty coffee. Totally recommended if you have half an hour or more of waiting for a bus or train ahead of you.

Discovered this by accident after arriving in after dusk from Bihoro Pass. The Maschu Pork rice and their Ramen are awesome and completely local. Economical value makes this even more awesome. For Malaysian and Singaporean, pork tasted like bak kwa with black pepper.

The butadon is so delicious. If u make the trip to Hokkaido, plz do not miss this restaurant!!!

Excellent food in a comfortable environment. All the food options looked delicious, it was difficult to pick just one. Ingredients are also locally sourced so you get a nice taste of the local produce. Conveniently located near the train station and off the main road. Recommended especially if traveling between Akan and Mashu, will not disappoint!

Absolutely incredible food here!! Really big portions, and the meat is top notch.

The lamb set is highly recommended, as well as the butadon.

摩周の豚丼
Many years ago we purchased ekibento at the Mashu station , unsure what to expect, surprisingly a very delicious Mashū no butadon. Returning the second time to Mashu station and tried to get a same bento, alas sold out. Luckily the shop that supplies the bento is just next to the station, 食堂と喫茶 poppotei. We like their butadon so much, we have been back several times since, and will be more whenever we visiting the area.

Tasty food and friendly staff in a clean and cost modern place. My kids had the shio ramen and were happy. The ginger pork set meal was delicious. Right next to the station, so easy to find. A great place for lunch or dinner!

This place was simply delicious! The gyudon especially was so incredible! In fact, we got a second order of it. The sauce was the perfect level of sweet and savory and the beef was soft and tender. I wish there was a place like this near where I live! Definitely worth stopping if you are passing through this city!
