As mentioned by almost every reviewer, it is the highest waterfall in Japan at 133 metres.

Which means you can expect tourists pouring in non stop. The higher up the mountain you park, the more you pay.

From the carpark, follow the crowd down 👇 a flight of stairs to the falls. Spiritual place for locals, easy walk overall.

Although very far from the nearest major city, this waterfall is worth the travel. It was a great spiritual experience to come visit this beautiful falls and visit the temple close to it.

Beautiful waterfall that's definitely worth a visit. If you r driving, U can park yr car at Diamon zaka steps and hike to Kumano Nachi Tanisha then to Nachi Falls. You need to be reasonably fit and will take about an hour or more. Then take a bus back to Diamon zaka Alternatively, park at Nachi Falls carpark. Since Nachi Falls is quite close to Kumano Nachi Tanisha, you can also visit Kumano Nachi Taisha. Just walk down the road to the entrance of the shrine n loop back via the hiking route

Stunning view, made me feel calm for a while. I’ve been there twice but early Morning was the best because it wasn’t crowded.

There is no wait to enter the premises but if you want to go up close, you have to pay 300 yen at the shrine window. It may take some waiting time if other people are lined up as well as if other people are on the spot in front of the falls where you actually want to take a photo. There’s a water fountain inside and you might want to bring your own bottle if you want to bring home some water. Lots of interesting things to spend your money on in the area. XD

Exceptionally beautiful, not to be missed if you are around Wakayama prefecture. The 130 meters waterfall is majestic, with its roaring sound and breezy wind.

You can also visit the temple on the opposite side and see the iconic scene of the pagoda and the waterfall. Overall, just so beautiful and such a peaceful place to visit

Must see waterfall in Japan. If you're in the Kansai area, you have to take a day to visit this beautiful landmark in Wakayama

Absolutely the jewel of Wakayama Prefecture. The Nachi Falls, which plunge about 133 meters down, is a part of a larger nature area, which includes a steep forest climb, stunning natural scenery, temples, shrines, and of course the falls themselves. The man-made feature is the Seigantoji Temple, which you can visit for free. This is not only a great place to visit, it’s also great exercise. My iPhone told me that I climbed more than 50 flights of stairs that day. 🌲🌳🦌🇯🇵

Very beautiful water fall & shrines around the area. Requires a bit of walk from the parking lot. There are many parking lots but please make sure to use the one provided by the shrine so that you can park nearby this waterfall and drive up to the shrine for a total of ¥800 if you use a different parking, you would have to pay separately.

An absolutely beautiful place and well worth the visit. Nachi Falls is the tallest waterfall in Japan and it’s magnificent to see up close. The walk Down towards the waterfall is also scenic with amazing big beautiful large trees that must’ve been hundreds of years old.

If you wanna go closer to the waterfall at mid height you gotta pay 300 at the entrance, and they provide like a small plate for drinking the waterfall water for an additional 200 yen right after the entrance gate. The plates are cute and you can bring them home. Of course you can drink the water without the plates as well.

The hike down and up is a bit tough, but I’d say worth all the effort.

Beautiful. 300 yen to go to the "prayer area" which is higher up. You can also pay 200 yen for a bowl to drink water that's come down the waterfall.

A stunning place, which is so magical that you really feel being in real Japan. Absolutely amazing. But come on a rainy day, because otherwise you will face a lot of tourism.

The Nachi Falls, the tallest waterfall in Japan, is one of the most anticipated sightseeing spots in my trip - and it didn’t disappoint! This was the destination of my hiking trail from Daimon-zaka, and I think watching the magnificent waterfall was a great wrap up to my short pilgrimage!

Most travellers would advise you to arrive here early so you can take photos of the waterfall when the sun shined the brightest. For me, however, I arrived in late afternoon as I didn’t start my route from here. The good side is there were barely any visitor when I arrived so I could admire the waterfall in peace!

Make sure you check out the bus schedule in advance though so you won’t miss the last bus departing from the entrance of the Nachi-no-Otaki!

Great place to visit. Prepare to spend 2-4 hrs at the whole complex.
A tip to maximize experience while minimize your climbing effort (yes, there are a lot of steps to climb) - take a bus to the waterfall stop, see the falls then climb to the pagoda, then on top the top of the complex to see the temples before walking down to the shopping street and finally the old pilgrimage pathway. There is a bus stop at the end.
This way, you mainly go downwards vs. upwards on the steps.

We went a long way out of our way to visit this site. The way things panned out we had 30 mins at Nachi Waterfall because we had to return a hire car to Kyoto. That 30 minutes will stay with us for the rest of our lives. The shrine, the waterfall, the location...... truly sublime.

Definitely worth a good 2-3 hours to take a look around these falls and the shrine buildings next to it.
The falls are fairly big and easily accessible, though there are plenty of steps to get there and also up to the main shrine as well. Some of the parking is a little cheaper away from the main entrance, around 400 yen or so as opposed to 500 yen. I believe there is a free parking area perhaps I missed it on my way in.
The falls are ever present wherever you walk around this area so they are great to have in the background for many photos, from the shrine etc.

Named as 1 of the 3 magnificent waterfalls in japan. The other 2 is kegonotaki and fukurodanotaki. But you have pay to shrine 300 yen to have a closer look. Not wheelchair friendly.

A must visit place when you come to wakayama. It’s the largest waterfall in Japan, it’s magnificent and well maintained. Many people come here to pray... do remember to cleanse yourself first before entering.

You can also climb up to see a closer look of the magnificent waterfall and drink the famous natural water.

The place was renovating when I was there but did not affect anything. I highly recommend people to visit!
