This cave and the mountains around are astonishing. For 900¥ and free parking you can experience a nice half day here.
Maybe because of winter and/or rain there where not a lot of people, but I saw on the website that in summer or high Saisons you need to wait sometime.
So overall if you fit enough to hike in a cave for around 1 hour and maybe not bigger than 1,90m, it’s a perfect half day activity in Tokyo. You need around 2-4 hours depending on car or train/bus if you coming from the center of Tokyo.
So big recommendation from me 💪🏻
PS: it’s also worth to check out the place from outside the river and also mountains are so beautiful 🥰

If you go to the tourist office at the okutama station, they will give you a 100yen discount ticket and a detailed map with the bus times which was extremely useful.
We took our lunch with us so had a little picnic while we waited for our bus. There is a rest area above the ticket office where you can enjoy the view.
Cave itself was great fun can easily spend an hour inside as it is pretty big. You do have some dripping water and is cooler inside so wear something warmer and waterproof if possible. Staircases can be little narrow and steep so wouldn't recommend it to everyone.

Absolutely beautiful caves. The signs are all in Japanese, and so is the map, but it wasn't too hard to figure out. There's a small waterfall outside and good restrooms just up the hill from the cave entrance. It takes a good 2 hrs to get there from downtown Tokyo, but it's worth it.

The cave is rather near to the center of Tokyo. Price is cheap and the inside is huge and beautiful, even compared to the other famous caves in Japan.

A colorful and musical limestone cave. As the largest cave in the Kanto region, Nippara Limestone Caves attract a lot of tourists each year.

Even though the caves itself are just a one time watch, the drive to the caves and experience of nature is awesome,

Please do not forget to take your jackets with you as it is very very cold inside the caves

The experience was awesome. The area around the caves is beautiful. Inside the caves it is cold and wet so bring a sweater or something warm and maybe a raincoat. Once inside it really cool. You go from bending over and squeezing through tight areas to what looks to be a massive dome type area. Being 181cm is not ideal but it was definitely worth it.

Was pleasantly surprised. I initially thought it would be a small cave with one open area but it was actually oretty big and takes about 30 mins to walk through the entire place. Maybe more if you want to take photos or walk slowly to take a good look at everything and read the signs explaining the features etc. The only downside is the distance from the center of tokyo. Theres no way to get there other than to get a car. Parking space is very limited so suggest going there early during high seasons to avoid long waits just to park.

A great experience, but very tricky to get to. In good weather the road will be too crowded, in bad it can be treacherous. Very narrow roads, with limited pass points. Watch for public buses too. But a beautiful area in Fall as the leaves change. The cave was much more complex than expected

A must visit place in Saitama. It’s a pretty long limestone cave. Please take a photo of the map after your enter the cave. It would be very easy to travel through the cave with the that photo(cave map)

Very large cave inbetween the mountains of OKU-tama. Quite crowded on weekends so don't go there by car.
