Rice Terraces Villa Sasayuri Ann

My wife and I recently stayed here. It was by far the highlight of our Japan trip. Stunning villa with some of the most beautiful landscaping and woodwork we had ever seen. The owner and his family are lovely and helpful. The meals were incredible. Would highly recommend!

This is the quintessence of a Zen-like elegance. I must say, I have never come across a more stunningly beautiful place in all my life.

I had initially booked the Ozunu (The second villa) for just one day. But the moment I stepped foot into this splendid villa, I immediately asked Matsubayashi-san the possibility to extend my stay by another day.

The experience was nothing short of sublime, offering an nature escape to the pressures of daily life and rediscover oneself.
I found myself drawn to tranquility and the beauty of the villa.
The villa exudes an air of Zen-like elegance and tastefulness, with every detail, from the placement of the sands, stones to the objects around, crafted with a sense of purpose and aesthetic precision. You have a stunning landscape of mountains.

On the first night, Matsubayashi-san and his wife prepared a sumptuous shabu-shabu on an irori for us.
The second night, we experienced farm-to-table experience with a japanese-european cuisine, with fresh vegetables and fruits sourced directly from the farm surrounding the villa. This was truly healthy and delicious.
The breakfasts, we had also consisted of fresh fruits and vegetables from around the villa.

Matsubayashi-san is a business man and also a mountain monk (Yamabushi), a master in Zen. He shared some of his knowledge about meditation, concentration, and Japanese culture with us. We even attended a floral arrangement session with his wife, during which Matsubayashi-san explained us about ikenobo and its origins.
Matsubayashi-san and his wife were very nice, respectful and lovely. Hopefully, I hope to meet them again soon.

This place was amazing! Unbelievably beautiful traditional style villa, perfectly renovated and overlooking terraced rice paddies and a picturesque mountain range. The first night they cooked us a private shabu shabu dinner featuring local beef that was delicious. The family that runs this place are all so nice and welcoming. Thank you so much for having us!!

Sasayuri-Ann is such a special place. My soul needed it. I hoped my journey through Japan would change me in a profound way… Sasayuri-Ann did. Time stands still here. I took in every moment of nature and I will never forget it.

Visiting Sasayuri-an felt like being transported to another world. The owner, Matsubayashi-san, is the kind of person who seeks out only the best of any experience and it’s clear he wants to share this with all of his guests as well. He speaks fluent English and is a practitioner of Shugendo Buddhism. There’s so much to learn at Sasayuri-An and it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

Staying at the inn is magical as is, but if you’d like further experiences, Matsubayashi-san can help you with anything—whether it be going on a pilgrimage to local holy mountains, visiting the Akame 48 waterfalls, cycling around Naibari, trying delicious local sake or catered food from local masters. Ask his advice on literally anything and he will connect you with the best there is. Sasayuri-An is an amazing base and access point to the best Japan has to offer and in staying here I feel like I’ve gained a lasting connection to the deepest parts of this country.

Quite off the beaten track so it took us a long taxi ride from a small train station to get there - but it was worth it. Spectacular room, spectacular view. We were a small group of 3 - so it was rather expensive for us. But it can lodge up to 8 people (with Futon spread in the main room).

A most beautiful home - meticulously restored and a wonder of serenity and comfort. Spectacular location with epic sunrises over the fields and the mountains majestically shining in the distance.

久しぶりに贅沢な休日を過ごすことができました。

コロナ禍で、古民家の一棟貸しということだけでなく、
他にも最新の空気清浄機や、免疫対策など、
万全なコロナ対策をしてくださっているので、安心して寛ぐことができました。

宿泊した日はお天気も良く、庵の窓から見る風景は絶景です！
身体に優しい地元の食材を使ったお料理もとても美味しかったです。

日常の喧騒から離れて、ただ自然と対峙して心をリフレッシュさせる。
そんな休日の過ごし方の大切さを改めて実感しました。

太い梁が支える茅ぶき屋根の古民家。落ち着いた板間の中央には囲炉裏。床の間には掛け軸。壁一面の掃き出し窓からは、スコーンと抜けた広い空。棚田の穏やかな山里風景が広がり、その向こうは山々が連なる自然豊かな美しい景色。陽が傾き夕焼け空がだんだん深く濃い青へ、そして吸い込まれそうな星空へ。ココでしか体験できない静けさ。虫の声。玄関を挟んで、ダイニングキッチンと真新しい洗面スペース、檜風呂。二階には琉球畳の小部屋があり人数がもっと多くてもゆったりと過ごせそう。WIFI完備も嬉しい。同期4人の記念日大人の女子旅。奮発して大正解でした。

「太陽の道」上にあるささゆり庵。朝日を浴びながらの瞑想が、とても気持ちよく、自分と向き合い、心を整えるのに、最高のロケーションで、かけがえのない時間となりました。
囲炉裏の鉄鍋で食べた伊賀牛のすき焼きも、とろける美味しさで、日本酒もよくすすみました。周辺にも見どころがたくさんあり、赤目温泉や龍穴神社へのお参りもオススメです。何度も泊まりたいお宿です。

Sasayuri-an is located on the "Path of the Sun". Meditating in the morning sun felt so good, and it was the best location for me to face myself and prepare my mind.
The sukiyaki of Iga beef served in an iron pot on the sunken hearth was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the sake went well with it. There are many things to see and do in the surrounding area, and I recommend visiting the Akame Hot Springs and the Dragon Hole Shrine. I would like to stay at this inn again and again.

神聖な山々に囲まれ、日本の原風景とも言える棚田が眼下に広がるささゆり庵さんに、久々に会った旧友と3人で宿泊させていただきました。
美しく丁寧に再生された古民家で、室内の設えもよく、檜風呂などで日常の疲れた体が癒されて、リラクゼーションするにはもってこいの場所でした。
贅沢ですが、コワーキングスペースとして利用するのも一興かも。
奈良の地元のヘルシーな食材を使ったしゃぶしゃぶも、とっても美味しかったです。
また、夕焼け、朝焼けのダイヤモンドポイントではないかと思うぐらい、宝石のような太陽も観ることができました。
今回はショートステイでしたが、また時間が取れたら、今度はゆっくりとささゆり庵さんで「日本」を堪能したいです。

大切な人の誕生日に「ゆったりとした贅沢な時間」をプレゼントしたくてこちらを予約しました。
HPで事前に写真を見て、googlemapで周辺を見て、良さそうだと思いここに決めたのですが、正直“景色”、“料理”、“静さ”、“接客”、“設備”の全てが想像を超えた素晴らしいものでした。
何より清潔感があり、いつまでも居たいと思いました。
ただ一つ改善があればいいなと思ったのは、現地で追加の支払い（お酒購入など）をする時もキャッシュレスに対応されてるといいなと思いました。
本当にそれくらいですね、あとはperfectです。
必ずリピートしたいと思います。

車を走らせ、赤目や宇陀を巡り楽しいひと時でした。

ひとつだけ残念だったことは、

素晴らしい景色と誰にも邪魔されない空間。 こんな贅沢な時間を過ごせる素晴らしいお宿でした。 地元の食材を使ったお料理も美味しかったです。

休日ゆっくりする事ができました。
バーベキューも柔らかいお肉で美味しかったです。
ヒノキ風呂は最高ですね。
古民家の一棟貸しなので人を気にすることなくゆったりできます。
朝から近隣を歩きましたが、自然の中で気持ちが穏やかになります。
天気が良かったので宿から眺める景色も最高です。
深野城跡にも立ち寄ってきました。
夜になると星が沢山見えてとても神秘的です。
自分探しの旅には、とてもお勧めです。
宿の方もとても親切で色々教えて下さいました。

古民家風のホテルになっており、昔の日本を感じることができました。スタッフさんが送り迎えをしてくれて゛日本の心゛もしれました。本当に良かったです。また行きたいです。

古民家を改造した民宿ですが、掃除が行き届いており、トイレも含め非常に綺麗です。部屋は日本式なので個室ではありません。
