WARNING: if you are taking the last available ferry on weekdays (5:30pm) to Kumamoto and you’re not bringing your own car, be advised that you will have to wait 1.5 hours after arrival to catch any transportation back into the city (and if you somehow miss that last bus, you’re screwed). There is nothing to do or eat as everything at the port closes down shortly after your arrival, and taxis WILL NOT make the drive all the way to the port to pick you up.

That being said, the ferry ride itself is very pleasant and precise down to the minute. I had no problem just showing up 20 minutes before departure and buying my ticket. In exchange for wasting 1.5 hours doing nothing, taking the ferry at sunset gives you a killer view as a consolation prize.

Convenient and relatively straightforward process to secure your slot for the ferry of your preferred timing. Good way to save some time it you're driving from Nagasaki to Kumamoto

Fuss free to drive up the ferry. It will leave punctually so need to be there 20 mins before. It is a relaxing way to cross between Nagasaki and Kumamoto. Suggest to visit Mt Unzen in between for great views

Enjoyable ferry ride.

Really great and comfortable ferry ride from Shimabara port to Kumamoto port. They drinks and snacks on board to enjoy for a reasonable price. The only thing is I wish the ride was longer to enjoy more of the views and fresh air. I guess I'll have to come back again one day!

Our high speed ferry was canceled due to bad weather but the car ferry was still running. Really nice trip over even with the wind and rain. Also had a complimentary bus service from the Port to Kumamoto JR Station. We stayed at the New Kumamoto Hotel next to the train station, the best hotel in Japan I've ever stayed in. Huge rooms and bathrooms and fantastic breakfast as well.

เอารถข้ามจาก shimabara port ไป kumamoto ไม่ได้คาดหวังอะไร พอขึ้นไปมีนกนางนวลเกาะหลังคาเรือแล้วก็บินมาขออาหารตลอดทาง ลูกเพลินกับการให้อาหารนกมาก ใช้เวลาเดินทางราวๆ 1 ชั่วโมง เรือจะดูเก่าๆหน่อย แต่พนักงาน service เป็นกันเอง

2019/10/14に利用しました。
台風19号の影響がまだ続いており、この2〜3日は波が高いとスタッフさんが教えてくれました。また、波が高くなると館内放送があります。
机の上のペットボトルがススーっと左右に動きました。

天気は良く、島原外港から出港する際は普賢岳がよく見えます。（朝一番目の船です）

初めて自分で運転してフェリーに乗りましたが、ネットから予約をしていたので、乗場について名前を言えばすぐにカードを渡してくれます。
手続きも丁寧に伝えてくれます。
予約した時よりも、車のサイズが小さいので安くなります、と予定していたよりもお安くなりました。

港のスタッフさん、クルーの皆さん、売店の方と。
とても感じがよく、しかもナイスガイ&グッドルッキング。目の保養にもなりました。

帰りは16:40熊本港発に乗りました。この時期は夕焼けが綺麗に見えるとホームページにあります。天気が良かったので、見事な夕陽を見ながら帰路に着きました。

普賢岳には笠雲がかかり、夕日と相まって幻想的でした。

とても楽しい時間で30分しか乗られないのが残念でした。また、利用したいです(^^)

ドライブの後雲仙の温泉に立ち寄り　帰りは島原よりオーシャンフェリーにて熊本向けて出港。
車と運転手1人と搭乗者1人で5000円ちょい。
30分で熊本港到着。早いですしフェリーは綺麗ですね。
夕陽を見たい所ですが残念ながら山陰で見えませんでした。
17時30分最終便出港。進行方向右側に座ると夕焼けがみえますよ。

6,900mmキャンピングカー で熊本県へ向けて。
大人2人と5歳児の3人で8,030円でした。
鹿児島県へ帰るために利用しましたが、
天草へ渡って、さらに鹿児島県の長島へ2回フェリーを利用することも考えましたが、待ち時間を考えると、2回分の金額も同じぐらいになるため、1回利用して熊本県へ渡りました。
長島フェリーや、桜島フェリー、たるみずフェリーや甑島フェリーと比べても豪華なフェリーでした。

佐賀県から雲仙へドライブして久しぶりのカーフェリーです。
雲仙をバックに夕日を見ながら熊本に帰りました。
船内には軽食としてサンドイッチを販売していました。
