Used KIX airport for Osaka a few times but mainly international. This time is domestic terminal 1. To/ From KIX to Osaka has many options: bus, taxi and train/metro. There are many combinations with public transportation system. If you use train system, do allow time for switching platforms and understand what line you are taking. Common one is via Kansai express and connect to Osaka loop to the major city stations. The train system can be overwhelming. Don’t panic! Just ask the train station folks. They are very helpful and will assist you to make the choice. Basic rules: faster train = more expensive. Say 2300 yen for the express version about 1 hour or less pending on where you are going. Or slower train and connection say 1200 yen but May take 1.5 hour. Be aware of which car you board as some cars may switch directions at certain stations. Google map is quite easy to use and even tell you which platform to go to for switching trains.

Lots of shops and eating places. Airport is tidy, clean and well organized.

FYI, after you check in your bags, you get a security ticket (yellow) as you get through security, then you may get another pink ticket as you board the plane. Interesting concept, but not sure why all these additional paper, etc. (ANA)

Overall, enjoyable experience at KIX airport. Most importantly the pricing at the airport before and after security are reasonable pricing. A bottle of water for 100 yen at the airport to me is amazing! The price for food at the airport is similar to outside airport. I am impressed. Did not feel being taken advantage due to airport location.

Amazing airport. Superbly designed, it looks wonderful and moves travelers quickly and efficiently. The new Visit Japan QR code is just launching, but it worked superbly already this trip and, along with quick passport scanning and abundant support personnel, Kansai got us through and toward the gate in record time. Bravo for an almost flawless system!

Landed in Kansai International Airport in early morning. Theres tons of people and long queue however the flow is really smooth. Immigration was fast and customs was quick as well. They really do have a good coordination on the traffic.

Had to go to a different gate for my departure and was efficiently went to monorail/train car for the exchange.

Environment was nice, beautiful, modern looking with all the cool pillar display tv. However the toilet in this airport was the first one (throughout all of osaka/kyoto that I had travel and visited) to have their water tap stuck and water was stagnant (minimal and small issue).

I were also approach by a tourism agent and they will ask few questions regarding your stay in Japan (if you got approached, do not worry it will not take long, plus they have souvenir for you after answering too!)

Would definitely come back to Japan for more! Arigatou gozaimas Japan for having me!

Kansai International Airport is the main international airport serving the Greater Osaka region of Japan and is the closest international airport to the cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. This is a project built on an artificial island. The airport is large and modern. There are also many shops selling food and souvenirs.

Do not waste your money buying overly priced bentos/ meal boxes in Kansai Airport! There are plenty of booth selling such food items but they are all overly priced!!!!

Once you passed Security, and take the monorail to your gates… there is a FamilyMart right before your boarding gate!!! It is fully stocked and plenty of options.

"Kansai International Airport is the primary international airport in the Greater Osaka Area of Japan and the closest international airport to the cities of Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe. It is located on an artificial island (Kankūjima (関空島)) in the middle of Osaka Bay off the Honshu shore, 38 km (24 mi) southwest of Ōsaka Station, located within three municipalities, including Izumisano (north), Sennan (south),and Tajiri (central), in Osaka Prefecture."

I can’t complain anything about this airport. I think this airport is much better and convenient than many airports in Europe and US for sure. For me, it is a quite good one.

Arrived at Kansai Airport early in the morning and was pleased to find here still offering necessary services, including the shuttle bus and convenience store. It's incredibly convenient, and must say the staff here are exceptionally friendly.

Busy, modern airport that doesn't take too long to move through. It's on its own artificial island, which makes the take offs and landings very dramatic. Views to the shore are also fantastic. Limited food options airside - just a small noodle and sandwich/hotdog stand. The vending machines at our terminal refused to take major credit cards, but would accept Pasmo and Suico, and also Chinese Alipay.

It is lovely to see the KIX in its 100% activities after Covid19.
It is very organized, clean and amazing airport. It has smooth immigration services. The maintenance of luggage is impressive. Your luggage will not have any damage here because of their carefulness, however, this happens in almost every airport in Japan. Muslim can find the Prayer room here.

Very clean and organized. Easy to locate what is needed. Only give 3 star rating for slow speed of international travel through passport check/fingerprinting, immigration debarkation check, and finally customs. Back on the good side, luggage was easy to locate.

Kansai International Airport is unique for being built on an artificial island in Osaka Bay.

This innovative engineering project was designed to address the limited land availability in the region.

The airport is known for its striking architecture, efficient operations, and its role as a major international gateway to the Kansai region.

Additionally, it has a passenger terminal with a unique, aesthetically pleasing design and offers panoramic views of the surrounding bay.

Ever clean and efficient terminal. Even though some of its part are under maintenance, they are still able to keep the place clean, peaceful and apt for passengers waiting to fly.

There are several restaurants and cafés inside and there are spacious waiting terminals.

Everything’s cool here. Plus it is connected to a train station which is very convenient for the masses.

Japan’s $20B Kansai Airport in Osaka sinking at an alarming rate

When Japan’s Kansai International Airport (KIX) opened in 1994, it was considered an engineering marvel. It is one of the world’s floating airports and cost roughly $20 billion to construct.
