記憶では、昭和５７年に浅川小学校から分離開校。当初は青葉台も開発されておらず高須北地区が校区の北端で、一戸建ての住宅街からの児童も多く在籍していたが、大半が育ち上がると公営アパートの児童が大半を占めてきており、校風も大きく変わってきた。子供会も消滅した地区も多い。学校側は、中学校から教師を派遣異動させるなど生徒指導面でも力を入れているようだ。
