Amazing hotel with 3 onsen baths. Tried panoramic and open air at night, wonderful experience. Breakfast is a very crowded, but food is enjoyable. Hotel is a bit pricey, but worth visiting for one night 👌🏻

Hotel with long history. It’s a big hotel. There are 3 onsen which is big and clean. The room is big enough for 3 people, clean and tidy. The breakfast is gorgeous and has variety of food. There is good view that you can see from the lobby and the restaurant.

Very nice experience. It offers both public hot spring and private hot spring in your room. Room is clean and comfortable and spacious. Staff are nice and helpful.
The hotel is very big, with lots of dining areas with nice views, and game area, and large souvenir shop.
Staff will come to your room to make tatami bed for you. The bed is soooo comfy and I have such a good sleep.

I stayed 2 nights in January with my mom. First time in Gero. And everything was so wonderful.

It’s close from the station. You can walk or take their shuttle at the station, so convenient either way.

The room was lovely. And the meals and their service was great too. The weather was colder than I expected but more suitable for hot spring. I used their all three big baths. Clean and not too much crowded. They also have a little shop, arcade and gym.

The staffs tried their best communicating in Eng. And I really appreciate that. I had no difficulty at all. I can use auto translation anytime anyway.

It was the perfect rest.

The 4 start hotel in Gero is fantastic. Their rooms are large for a big family. The service was the best and their food, especially their kaiseki dinner was delicious. I’ve been to this hotel a few times and I enjoy coming back each time.

Nice hotel that is close to the train station and right next to the river.
Has 3 baths available to guest with one of them available 24 hours and 3 restaurants.
Booked mine with breakfast and it offers a great Japanese buffet breakfast.
No complaints about the room as it is well sized.

An amazing one day experience at this ryokan in this magical town! Leading up to my stay here, a few locals I had met in my travels had also heard of Suimekan and built up my excitement, it seemed to be a well known spot and as we know the japanese love their rotunburos.

The moment I got off my shuttle (which is very convenient and always waiting at gero station it seems) I knew I had entered something special. The insides were serene, a waterfall was visible beyond the windows, it felt like an urban forest. It felt like something Gaudi would design if he was Japanese, true to nature, soft lighting and corners, warmth in the air. I dressed in the cute blue yukata they gave me and spent half my day in their lovely indoor and outdoor onsens. Both were relaxing, not overly crowded and had varying temperatures of water available. I also enjoyed the 12ºC cold bath and the sauna (risking dizziness in all these switches but worth it).

The ryokan breakfast lived up to the hype! It had an array of all kinds of nutritious dishes like daikons, tamago, seaweed, miso paste, tofu etc.

Pizza at the lunch place was yummy and it was nice eating it sitting near the waterfall. They also had a nice gift shop and friendly folks there offering advice on what to try. I tried this freshly made warabimochi they had available for order, which was a kit that came with warabi starch, soybean flour and syrup separately packaged. Combining those and cutting into pieces was a fun experience.

I only had a couple small gripes - my slippers were too small and they said they'll send me larger ones but i didn't get them, but I only was here a day so I didn't bug them again. The laundry dryer seems ineffective and I had to run it twice.

Amazing rooms, sleeping on tatamis. Hotel has a rich history, even the ex-emperor can to visit this hotel! The hotel has multiple facilities, an olympic sized pool and a normal pool which you usually find at hotels, apartments etc. A small but rather beneficial gym overlooks the olympic-sized pool. A small arcade centre for both grown-ups and young ones. Amazing buffet breakfast, both Western and Japanese cuisine served here. The onsens? Fantastic. 3 different onsens for both genders.

Easily one of the best Ryokan I've been to in Japan. It's quite remote but with plenty of amenities and it's fun to walk around Gero since there are so many things to see and explore.

I came here as a package deal with JR as part of a day trip. The service was excellent. The onsen bath was really nice and it was huge. I felt the most relaxed I ever did and combine it with the cake/drink set I got too made it a very relaxing time. The view and weather was fantastic. It was a great time. The staff were great and every request and question was fulfilled by the staff. I was able to get an onsen tablet that is currently not widely being sold to be used later but also as a nice memory of my visit to gero onsen.

This place is the epitome of paradise. I've been to so many onsens in Japan throughout the past 5 years but this one is my absolute favorite. A variety of hot springs, excellent multilingual AND multicultural staff, and delicious food everywhere you go. Staying the night is a little pricey but you definitely get your money's worth and then some. Also, they had American-style bacon at the breakfast buffet along with other amazing things, which is really rare in Japan!

well, the best japanese style hotel. I live in the private palace that the japan emperor live. it contain two rooms and a personal dining room with a personal house lady to serve my family.
the hot spring is the most smooth your skin like baby type. this is the best hot spring that you can feel it directly.
the dining room only serve my family and lot of local vegetables, hida A5 beef and luxurious king feeling. the house lady know english well and professional.
The room is really really big and like a maze. there are a warm leg table just like the what you see at japanese movie.
when we depart the hotel, the driver drive the car directly to our big gate, and the lady owner of the hotel came to say goodbye to us.

Honestly, this place is onsen heaven. Has 3 different onsen baths, swimming pool and gym. The rooms are immaculate and the view of mountain ranges and gero cities were one of my favourite views of lifetime. The staffs are very friendly and service is top notch. Highly recommend staying here!

I didn't stay at Suimeikan but I was there as an onsen guest. The hotel lobby is awesome. It has a very nice japanese garden and plenty of seats for guests to rest. We went to the onsen on the 9th floor with an amazing panoramic view of Gero. The onsen has great facilities. There were even seats with foot and back massager for guests to use while admiring the great view. I'll definitely be back to stay if a chance arises.

Fantastic Hotspring you can ever dream of!
It's said Gero is one of the top 3 cities you can enjoy the best hotspring, and I believe so after stayed here for one night!

***ROOM***
It's spacious and comfortable. All kinds of facilities were well maintained.
***HOTSPRING***
The best I ever enjoyed! The have three difference Hotspring houses located in different buildings and level. The largest one is so amazing! The water itself is super moisture and make your skin sleek as silk. There's also an outdoor Hotspring where you can enjoy the soaking under the moon.
***FOOD***
It was a fault to untick the dinner set while making reservation- I was thinking it could be a better choice to go to the Hotspring Shopping Street for lots of local food, but it's really not a busy street and most of them closed before dinner time...WHAT??? There should be more fun than this- eating, shopping, wandering... but nothing to do then, I guess it the lifestyles the locals preferred or it was not the correct season.
***SERVICE***
Very nice! They provide pick-up service even it's only 5-minute walking distance from the JR station! And they can speak your language which was very helpful and homelike.

In overall, this was a great choice although it's a little bit expensive!

I’ve been in so many onsen in Japan and this ryokan is one of the best. The service, food, onsen bath are all great! The feeling of being in the onsen bath while it’s snowing outside was just wonderful!
