If you are interested in this period of Japanese history, this is a "must visit". Make your reservation in advance on their website. The multimedia experiences are very well done and the English subtitles were very helpful.

If you're passing through the area, there are coin lockers at the museum (but not at the station).

Very friendly and accommodating staff.

This is a very well done museum for the battle of sekigahara. The staff are all professional and well informed. I asked a question about the weight of the weapon and the person had the information on hand in a book which was neat they make sure to have the information at the ready. The quality of the tour you are put on was amazing. I enjoyed the movie and opening information display about the battle which was well done and quite entertaining. The observation deck at the top was great and offered views of all the encampments the warlords were at during the battle. Such a nice place and for 500 yen was well worth it.

Pretty nice and well organized museum. A lot of the historical manuscripts are replicas. But the list the original's location. Most of them are in the Osaka Castle Museum and a more obscure one.

There is an option when you enter to see the historical movies....please do this 100%.

Normally the museum movies are meh and you are lucky if they are in English. This one has eng subs. The experience is somewhat Disneylandesque. They have fans in to emulate gusts of wind, the seats vibrate during battles also the screen wraps the side walls.

View from the 5th floor can help you chart out your trip as a lot of key historical sites are visible.

Very helpful staff!

Informative and carefully-laid out museum that gives context, content and detail to the seminal events leading up to and occurring at Sekigahara in 1600.

The top floor offers views over the battlefield (and modern town) and points out notable sites, while the rest of the museum offers artefacts, maps, data, explanation and multimedia.

Highly recommended.

One of the best museums I've ever visited. The theater is just amazing, introducing the history in a brand new way. (Highly recommend, preservation is needed)
Great services and guides are provided by professional staff.

Visited today after a bike ride around the sites. It’s a really beautifully curated museum with lots of information. Good translations of all the important stuff including the film with subtitles. You can really learn the details. Makes me want to go home and play the Sekigahara board game again! I met the museum curator who was really kind and helpful. Highly recommended.

An excellent history museum on the final unification battle that enabled the creation of the Tokugawa shogunate.
It is on the site of the battle and supported by installations in the landscape itself that signal the positions of the forces in the field.
Multilingual material is available although Japanese and English is more prevalent.

This was a very good very informative museum. Before visiting I had a vague idea about the battle of Sekigahara. I understood the strokes, but didn't have a clear idea about what happened specifically or how it unfolded. After visiting the museum I had a very clear understanding of the major characters and events.

There is good English support for all exhibits in the permanent collection and of the two animated videos that provide a lot of the historical information. The videos had rather high production value and were somehow engaging, as they tried to tell the narrative story of the battle, not the traditional dry explanation we often see at museums.

The entire town of Sekigahara is a 5-star town. It's this local little community, with the town itself being focused on one experience; it's the site of "Japan's Waterloo".

This museum is the ideal starting point for a walk around the battlefield that can last 6-8 hours (it's a massive site). The museum is filled with information, perfectly understandable for non-Japanese speakers, and will give you the context to make the tour that much more interesting. A fascinating museum dedicated to a fascinating moment in history.
