Must visit place during cherry blossom season. Its a 2 hour leisure walk, and you can hike to the top to see senbonzakura. The road is full with small traditional stores, it felt like being transported to Ghibli world. Not much tourist, so you can enjoy the scenery to the fullest. It is recommended to come here after you visit Nara Park

We visited mount yoshino during 2023 cherry blossoms. Mount Yoshino during Cherry blossoms is must visit. It can be a day trip from Osaka. Pictures cannot justify this beauty. Definitely go check it out if you are in the region. Witnessing 30,000+ fully bloomed cherry blossoms trees is a dream come true.

Nice scenic walk, to walk up to the Jinja shrine, it takes an hour or 17,000 steps to be exact, so be prepared for a long hike. Even though we came on a Thursday, there were still many people as it is a touristy area.

There are many old school gift shops, snack bars and a small amount of restaurants. Even though we went during cherry blossom season, most of them had dropped their petals so we were a little disappointed but nevertheless we enjoyed the scenery. It is recommended to hike up to the top where the Jinja shrine is as the higher you go the less crowded it is. The path also had some other trails that lead to other viewpoints.

The only downside was the 2000¥ carpark!!!!! At least they gave us a free shuttle ride..

most of the cherry blossoms are gone already because of the early blooms this season, but still a good number of trees to see at the top :) the walk up is beautiful regardless

WARNING this specific pin on google map is NOT the place you can see these view. Go up a few 100 meters and find a place called Hana Yagura viewing spot. It's just a small opening but it's where you can take photo like in the search result you saw.

Definitely one of the best place in nara or Kansai. You are right for looking this up.

Sakura blooming, scenery was beautiful, lots of people even on a Friday.

The hike up was very enjoyable, with many small restaurants, shops, and food stands along the way, and the shrines are quite beautiful too, albeit a bit too crowded.

Very beautiful place.
A touristy area though, so the main shopping street was very crowded (granted, I went on a Saturday during sakura season).

I went specifically to hike up the mountain and get a good view of the sakura from the top, but there are paved sections for casual walking as well.
The trails get significantly less crowded as you go up the mountain. There are some unpaved off-shoot trails, but I believe there are paved roads most of the way up as well. Most people seemed to be traveling up the roads rather than the trails.

The only downside was that parking was ¥2000! The parking was probably so expensive because I went during sakura season.

Also, I timed my visit a bit early, so the sakura were not at full bloom and some of the trees hadn't even started blooming. Their offical website does keep updates on how the sakura are blooming, so I'd recommend checking there first before visiting (no English I believe, so Google Translate would be necessary for non-Japanese speakers)

Although it’s a 2 hour drive from the Osaka city, it’s totally worth the time, especially if you go there during cherry blossom season. The road was very crowded because of the peak travel season, a bit hard to find a good parking spot. Some people chose to park at the bottom of the mountain and walk all the way (or take a cable car) to the top. There are a lot of good photo spots. You can also find some street foods or restaurants there.

I wen on 3 March 2021(Saturday ) it’s Sakura 🌸 ending time but still on blooming . Parking is available for ¥2000 per car for a day. There is a car parking down park their and then hop a bus for free till mount Yoshino. Toilet is available. Parking is available above nearby mount Yoshino also but may be full so be careful and take the bus and park your car down. Souvenir shops are available . Bring cash 💴will be nice . Sakura blooming time will be busy like hell. We had waited for a long time to reach our parking . There is a mount Yoshino train station also. And cable car 🚠 is also available from train 🚊 station to mount Yoshino . Autumn 🍂 is also nice .

With over 30,000 cherry blossom trees we watched, over two days in our tiny ryokan at the base of the mountain, how the entire valley transformed into a sea of vibrant pink and white blossoms. Best part was sharing a couple Ashai beers at the top of the mountain while playing our favorite card game! Another must visit for those planning a trip to Japan looking for true serenity.

Tips
• Try and make it there before 9am to beat the crowds
• Dont take the gondola up as the walk is breathtaking
• Pack a bunch of snack as food on the mountain can be quite expensive
• If you are looking for coffee there is only one good place to get it near the base of the mountain and only opens up at noon
• Bring a picnic blanket to chill and view the beauty

We came here during the off-season (aka. end of cherry blossoms) and it was very enjoyable. A nice stroll through the park with great views of the mountains (dense with cherry trees). We descended down into the park and visited the Noten Daijin Ryuoin Temple, passing by many delicately carved shrines on the way. The surrounding area is thick with trees and foliage, with creeks running through. It felt truly spiritual to be there. There was a Shinto-Buddhist fire ritual held for the public to attend. Lovely park.

Will forever fall in love with the beauty of Mt. Yoshino.

From Osaka Station take Osaka Loop Line to Tennoji Station
From Tennoji Station, go to Osaka Abenobashi Station to Yoshino Station.

If you like mountain climbing , you can walk from the station to the top of the mountain.

There is also a bus from the station to the famous spots of the mountain.
But prepare for a long line ahead

Whichever you will take, the experience is worth it!

Amazing view! Breathtaking around sunset. It’s a must-go during cherry blossom season. Wish I booked a hotel to stay for one night and wake up for sunrise.

Mount Yoshino ranks as one of the best places in Japan to immerse yourself in the spring cherry blossom season. Over 30,000 flowering Japanese cherry trees, or sakura, grow in four main groves on the hillside. Because the trees, some planted over 1,300 years ago, grow at different elevations, the cherry blossom front gradually moves up the mountain in a slow, fragrant wave as the season progresses. Peak bloom usually arrives between early and mid-April. Most years, crowds wander through the town of Yoshino, visiting its traditional temples and shires, before admiring the profusion of cherry blossoms, a custom known as hanami. Of course, we can practice hanami virtually with pictures. But if you're lucky enough to have a blooming cherry tree near you, we encourage you to pause and breathe the moment in.
