Beautiful place. Base of the castle is still remaining and most of the other parts are renewed. Lot of historical items are divided floor wise and showed in a nice order. Some of the ruins, old stories and etc. photos are not allowed inside. View of city from the top floor is very beautiful.
Entrance fee is ¥520.

Really scenic place, good for an afternoon walk around the area before picking up some souvenirs and moving to your next destination. You can also go to the top of the castle with a small entry fee.

Beautiful castle. Museum inside with a nice view from the top. An easy bus ride from the bus terminal near the station.

This castle was a replica! Don't get me wrong. Once you've seen 2castles you've seen them all, but this being almost completely redone made for very comfortable visitation.

It's the same spot as the original...and I didn't read all the info, but I'm sure some of the original castle is there along with the actual/original sets of armor and weapons plus other items that belonged to very famous Shogun.

The only castle with a red roof. The employees were very polite and provided an English map of the castle grounds and facilities. There is NO photography on the first floor. The rest are available for photography. The gift shop has a lot of amazing choices for souvenirs. Also note there was no handicap ramp going to and inside the castle, apologies in advance.

Pros: Great place to visit and to go deeper into Japanese history and culture.
It wasn't crowded.
A beautiful castle with an important role played in the transformation of Japan, it was besieged, damaged and restored.
Cons: lots of explanations were only in Japanese without translations into other languages.

The whole grounds here are beautiful, and I highly recommend a visit. There is a small fee for going inside the castle (which is also a museum); the view from the top was lovely, so I personally thought the fee was worth it, but as most of the information inside is in Japanese, visitors to Japan may decide to simply view the castle from the outside.
My family and I just enjoyed being in the grounds, and spent more time here than intended.

Very cool castle. 4th one I have seen in the castle stamp rally. Enjoyed reading some the history of the area and wars. The foundation was preserved. Panorama view at the top was the best I've seen yet. Definitely try to go with a clear sky.

Awesome castle very great history of the castle in the tour! It has a great view of Aizu from the top of the castle! Takes about an hour to go through if you go to each exhibit and read through all the educational aspect

You get a discount if you buy the bus tour day pass which I highly recommend! Going during the cherry blossom season is the best estimated around April!

A lovely, beautiful, photogenic castle, the white walls and the red tiles give the castle a unique look. The surrounding stones walls and the moat are picturesque, and the museum inside the tower is very informative and interesting, with pretty good English. The view from the top of the castle is magnificent.

Came here during the festival of lights; it was breathtaking! Right after it got dark, the lights went up and lit the castle to a purplish color. Inside, there were art exhibitions of lights in various form. It was snowing hard when I was there so it was freezing. The castle itself is pretty far from the entrance and from any train station. Taking a bus is better.

Very beautiful castle! The Aizuwakamatsu festival in September is a wonderful time to come here! The castle is a museum and tickets are reasonable, though a bit on the expensive side at 1000 yen, which gives access to the inside of the castle and the tea garden. Beautiful nature surrounding this castle and lots of history!

It’s basically a five story museum with a really nice view at the top. I learned a lot about the local history. I had no idea how important and strategic this region was for the country for hundreds of years. I also didn’t know that it was kind of the last hold out of the old regime. I came in on Monday morning when it was raining so there was no line and no wait. I’m really glad I spent a few hours here. I learned a lot and would happily recommend it to anyone in the area. Not sure how it is on the weekends once the cherry blossoms start to bloom but I can say for sure that in early April on a weekday it is a must see destination.

For whoever love historical place and enjoy a historical travelling, it is a must visit place in Aizuwakamatsu. This place is full of history and you will learn more about the history of Aizuwakamatsu in this castle.
You only need to pay ¥ 410 to enter the castle, or ¥500 for a package to enter the castle plus enjoying green tea in a green tea house.
However, you can not take pictures or videos inside the castle. You can go up in the third floor and you can take pictures in the balcony.
From the third or the top floor, you will be able to see Aizuwakamatsu city from above.
There are telescopes in the balcony, and you need to insert ¥100 coin to use it and look at the enture city through the telescope.
It was amazing!!
Also, this place is not too crowded so you can still enjoy it so much.

We didn’t check out inner part of the castle. We walk around the castle and read some of the history board. I found another akabeko however can’t touch :(

This is my second favorite castle in Japan after Himeji purely because of the amount of information offered in English, Chinese, and Korean. It was not crowded which allowed for me to go through and really read about the history of Aizu and while the castle is not original their is plenty to learn.
