Udon Honjin Yamadaya Main Branch

Highly recommend this udon! As a tourist from Australia, we were slightly nervous about the language barrier when we entered, but the staff were very friendly and happy to assist.

We were told it was a 15 minute wait (which ended up being closer to 10 minutes), but we had no issues with this as they have a lovely courtyard with gardens for you to wait in.

The udon itself was very tasty, with the broth having a tone of flavour. The tempura batter was also very nice and light. The food also did not take long at all.

If you are in the area I would recommend checking this place out :)

Super friendly guy who serve us when we reached there 7.30pm++ and they closing 8pm. Very big portion of udon noodle at affordable price! Love the guy/boss interaction, asking us Tatami or Table? Nice memory and hope can go there again during Sakura season
The environment is nice too even is dark, but I think it is much more nicer if u coming at daytime! Highly recommended!!!

The texture of the udon is just amazing! QQ texture and price is so reasonable. We had the basic udon and the broth is so clean and really hit the spot with its umami taste! Oden is good too! Can only get here with car.

This udon restaurant is authentic. It was recommended by my friend. When we arrived, there were many people waiting. The restaurant offered a courtyard to accommodate all the waiting people. The waiter said we had to wait around 45 minutes. But it was alright as all the waiting people were local people instead of foreign tourists. When we were in, placing orders was efficient. The udon was chewy. The quality and the cooking were both great.

We were super excited to get in without having to wait too long. We arrived at around 2:00 p.m., which seemed to be a good time. We only waited five or ten minutes for a table. The mackerel and unagi sushi were both delicious! I had the curry udon with fried chicken, which was very tasty and filling. My husband had one of the set meals plus some extra tempura, which he said was top notch. Must try udon location in Shikoku!!!!

Shikuko is famous for udon. This place really deserved to be the one serving the best udon. Set in a very exquisite garden environment. Very well patronised, we were expecting a long wait, however we were pleasantly surprised to be attended to very quickly. Nice garden, and many waiting seats around the garden. The 2 udon dishes we ordered were really excellent. The noodle was at all dente, the soup were so tastefully prepared. A must and highly recommended.

One of the most tasty Udon I have ever had so far. You will enjoy a meal in a beautiful historical buildibg designated as a registered Tangible Cultural Property with nice Japanese style garden. It is always very crowded, and it will took at least an hour to call you name. However, it worth to wait.

Amazing location! The food is delicious, probably some of the best udon I had in Japan! They also have a shop where you can buy different types of udon.

Probably one of the best udon restaurant on the planet! This flagship icon brand is popular among locals and visitors. It is located up on a hill, so you would probably have to be driving, or it's not easy to access via public transportation. The menu consists different set combination of udon and sides; house special is the way to go if you don't know what to order. The udon is done perfectly. I visited during weekday lunch and there was no queue (lucky). Must try if you are in town!

Best udon by far. Thick and chewy texture. It got really busy during lunch time but the wait was bearable (around 15min) - they have plenty of spaces and very efficient. Food arrived within 5min. It was so good we bought the take away udon!

Udon wasn’t my favorite food until I’ve tried it at Yamadaya shop.
This is simply the best udon that I’ve ever tried in my life. Takamatsu is famous for udon. It is the origin of udon in Japan. There is even a udon tour bus that travels around udon shops.
This yamadaya udon place is about a hundred years old. You can not only taste super chewy udon but also enjoy great beauty of the garden. It’s not that hard to find this udon shop. You’ll see many signs written on the telephone polls on your way to the shop.

Amazing!! A nice walk up from Yakuri station to work up an appetite! The chewiest of udons and the best ebi tempura i've ever had!! The view and the the restaurant itself is beautiful.

The place looks amazing. The food was also out of this world in terms of taste. It is the first place where I eat Oden and not only I liked it, I loved it!!! It is a place anyone in the area should visit. The atmosphere was very cozy, and I don't mean that in a small, cramped kind of way. The service was normal. Just not apt to the rest of the experience. I still recommend it. It might be that I was too tired after driving for so long.

The scenery and food is amazing! The outside hides how large this place truly is once you get inside with two separate dining areas. One which is more traditional style with tatami floors, while the second side is more of the modern Western style with tables and booths.

Yamada-ya has amazing udon that's thick and chewy with a delicious broth. It's a very popular spot that often has a line but service is quick and there is lots of seating available so the wait isn't long. The building is a large traditional Japanese house with a garden in the middle so it's a beautiful atmosphere. There is also a large parking lot.

Phenomenally good udon at excellent prices. The noodles have a good chewy texture and are super long, and the tempura was served steaming hot and fresh.

More upscale udon restaurant. Yet very reasonable prices. Relaxing atmosphere. Fast, cheerful service. Delicious food. Even the complimentary tea was delicious.
