Shomyo Temple

A hidden gem. Serene and tranquil. Get bread or rice crackers to feed the fish. Can pet and feed the cats if you are lucky. And there's a short hike to the hilltop and down which can be done in less than an hour. Best visited during Sakura and autumn for the colors. But it's beautiful anytime of the year.

Beautiful temple a short walk from the Kanazawa-bunko station. Beautiful set of bridges over the pond. I also liked the hiking trails behind the temple. They're not very well traveled and somewhat overgrown but you also have them to yourselves and they're not that long - so you can't get too lost.

A beautiful space with great, old architecture that's worth a short trip to visit

Absolutely gorgeous in the cherry blossom season with a tunnel of cherry trees at the entrance. Bus stop very close to the entrance. Plenty of large koi and turtles here. A decent amount of benches and a grassy field to lay a picnic blanket if desired. Not too crowded and very relaxing.

The ambience of the temple and it's surrounding areas is really refreshing. Visited when the sakura trees had started to blossom.
I wish I had been there a week later. My 3 year old daughter enjoyed spotting tortoises and ducks in the pristine pond

Shomyoji is just breath taking. Every single corner you look is like out of a magazine. I recommend this place if your looking to get out of the house and go sightseeing or family photos. You won't regret this cute, simple but elegant park.

Lovely place

京浜急行金沢文庫駅からも近いということで、2024年1月26日に訪れました。赤門から進んで仁王門に入ると、浄土式庭園は阿字ヶ池を中心に朱塗りの反橋・平橋や金堂を水面に映して美しい景色を見せてくれます。当日は天気が良く、梅も咲いていてとても気持ちの良い時間を過ごすことができました。
