Takino

First time eating “wappameshi” which is one of the Fukushima’s specialty. Very unique gourmet where they put everything in the bamboo box looks like bento, it contains all of my favorite ingredients from egg roll, crab, ikura, meat. I guess the tips and trick for people when they’re eating this is basically you need to mix it instead of eating it like rice and the topping. The place is giving good atmosphere and I can see mostly local coming here. Recommend if you want original wappameshi in Fukushima!

Went for lunch with the family here for a steamed rice bowl. It tasted clean and very good, and the service was great. There was an English menu.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to dine at the renowned Takino Restaurant in Aizu Wakamatsu. The place exudes a warm and inviting ambiance, skillfully blending traditional and modern aesthetics.
The menu at Takino serves as a true testament to the region's rich culinary heritage. I had the pleasure of savoring their signature dishes, each a masterpiece in its own right. The Aizu local ingredients were expertly showcased, and the meticulous attention to detail was palpable with every bite.
The owner, who has earned numerous awards in Japan and even had their bentos featured on one of the famous luxury trains in the country, displayed remarkable humility. Despite their accolades, they graciously allowed us to order just one portion for two, considering we had already indulged in Tonkatsu earlier. This gesture only added to the overall positive experience.
If you find yourself in the region, a visit to Takino Restaurant is an absolute must. It offers not only a delightful culinary journey but also a glimpse into the pride and passion that define Aizu Wakamatsu's gastronomic culture.

Ohmygosh! This was delicious! I got the Aizuwakamatsu set. Every bite was amazing.

Beautiful setting and friendly staff. Delicious salmon, crab and mushroom wappa served in traditional wooden steamer.

This is a more upscale japanese dining. They specialize in wappameshi. A set meal costs over 2500 yen but you do taste the quality. I ordered the 5 kind wappameshi. Servings were ample and each ingredient tastes superb. If you are a tourist, definitely try out this place. The only thing is that they don't have English menu and their menus don't have pictures. But show Google pics of meals posted by reviewers and you should be good. I think you can't go wrong with the 5 kind set meal. The soba in cold dashi is also sublime. Really enjoyed our meal here.

Excellent experience - recommended for lunch if you're in Aizu-Wakamatsu. Put this place on your itinerary!

Very old and traditional decor, excellent food and great service. Prices were about 2000 yen per person since we splurged out for the larger sets to try more of everything.

Here we got to try most of the local specialties including Wappa seafood steamed rice, leek soba, etc.

The food was seasonal and delicious, one of the best meals that I have had in Japan

会津若松駅から徒歩20分、鶴ヶ城からだと徒歩10分、会津料理の人気店です。観光客はもちろん、地元の方のお祝いの食事会などでも利用されています。平日18:30、予約なしで訪問、2階席が空いていたため、スムーズに入店できました。来店客の皆が注文するという、看板商品「輪箱飯」は、曲げわっぱという容器に入れたご飯の上に、地元の食材などをのせたもので、ホカホカで提供されます。今回、カニやイクラなど、7種類が入った「よくばり輪箱飯」を注文しました。味噌汁は、追加料金で地元料理「こづゆ」に変更しました。なお、休日や観光シーズンは大混雑するため、予約をおすすめします。

とにかく全部素晴らしかったです。予約時の問い合わせでラストオーダーが早い時間だったのでどうしようか迷いましたが、評判を見てどうしても行ってみたかったので観光を早めに切り上げ訪問しました。結果は大正解で、立派なだけれど堅苦しくない素敵な建物で、とてもおいしい食事をいただけました。わっぱ飯は初めてだったのですが、いい具合に味付けされた具材の味がおいしいご飯と相まって最高でした。ネギを箸代わりに食べるお蕎麦付きのセットを頼んだのですが、今までで1番美味しいのではないかと思うくらい素晴らしいお蕎麦で、正直言ってお蕎麦に期待していなかったので家族でびっくり仰天しました。次の日に純粋に会津蕎麦目的で行ったお蕎麦屋さんより遥かに美味しかったです。お店の方々も素晴らしく、特にお会計をしてくださった女将さんは、またお会いしたくなるような素敵な方でした。

会津若松と言えばわっぱ飯というくらい有名店。
かなり前に訪れたことがあったがこの味は変わらない。相変わらずお客さんはひっきりなしに来店し繁盛している。会津若松に来たら是非行ってみて昔ながらの味を試していただきたい。
この日は鮭親子輪箱をいただいたが、当たり前に美味しかった。
