Tateshina Shinyu Onsen

we stayed 2 rainy days at the ryokan with its immense library. the public baths indoor/outdoor are superb. the 2nd night i upgraded to a room with private bath and elaborate kaiseki dinner. it was totally worthwhile. after two splendid days and nights of relaxation in nature, we were fit to continue our 2 month japan trip. Probably the best value for money stay we experienced in japan so far! Highly recommended!

Nice friendly staff, one of the best kaiseki dinners I've eaten, and warm onsen, ladies have more variety though. But they allowed us to book rotenburo for private use for 30 minutes for free. The lobby space is nice, relaxing and cozy, also very instafriendly

Quaint and beautiful hotel. A tranquil place to go to for a private Onsen experience. Our stay was made infinitely better thanks to Shiori who assisted us during our time there. Her commitment to service excellence is remarkable.

Very comfortable and welcoming onsen. They have an extensive library and excellent meals. The baths are good and there are also hiking trails from the property.

My husband and I LOVED it here. He is a bookworm and was in paradise with the collection the hotel has. The food was delicious, and made with local ingredients. The facilities were recently renovated so everything feels new and clean, especially the baths, of which there are a few varieties. The service was outstanding, they catered to every need. I actually came down with a fever while here, and they were amazing. They changed the menu multiple times for me so that I could eat food that was easy on my stomach (they gave me dishes that weren’t even on the menu). They let us borrow a thermometer and even had medicine that I could take. I was really touched by how caring the staff was. We will definitely come back many more times. I highly recommend this onsen.

Best Japanese hotel for any bookworm!Extensive and so beautifully designed incorporated library throughout hotel.Books available in many languages.Few rooms have very exclusive design. Onsens are lovely and world recommend visiting all of those.
Surrounding area and garden is well taken care of ,and near by is beautiful waterfall.

This might just be the greatest hotel in the country. This is a place that is worth returning to, planing the entire vacation around even. The food was the greatest, the staff is the nicest and the baths are the most comfortable.

Amazing interior layout with books. The whole lobby is like a library. The staff is excellent.

This place had me at hello. The complimentary welcome drink and exquisite hospitality, the book-lined walls, breathtaking onsen and fantastic food - this was one of the best!

温泉旅館というよりもクラシックホテルという感じ。

高級感のある落ち着いた内装とスタッフの皆さんの丁寧な接客で、大人がゆっくりと寛げる施設になっていると思った。

夕食は地産地消の和洋折衷コース。
料理が素晴らしいが食事処が個室だということも高く評価したい。

大浴場も騒々しさがなくて、気持ち良く利用できた。

大人の隠れ宿という感じがした。
