Shiogama Fish Wholesale Market

I had lots of fun looking around the market and purchasing variety of seafood to build my own kaisendon. I couldnt make it look prettier but it was cheaper (less than 3000yen including a bowl pf rice and soup). Definietely recommend this place to you all.

I decided to find the freshest kizendon bowl where you can purchase and assemble to make your ultimate bowl. So I decided to go to Sendai at the shiogama Fish Wholesale Market. We bought food from different stores and the people are so friendly and helpful. We got scallops, ebi shrimp, hamachi, chutoro tuna and 2 whole oysters. They will sashimi it for you and then there is a place where you can just buy your rice bowl with miso soup.
Everything was unbelievably fresh and delicious. Overall a must try and it's a 15 min walk from the station.

Came from Sendai to Shiogama just to buy and eat fish at this market. There is a big selection of fresh seafood available. Even though I can't speak any Japanese, I was still able to buy things, the people are polite and friendly. After you have bought your seafood, you can bring it to the small restaurant inside and buy some rice and soup (around 400 yen) and then make your own kaisendon (basically just seafood placed on top of your rice). Great experience, recommend to come here.

I went to this incredible market with some local friends. A fantastic day excursion if you enjoy fresh fish at reasonable pricing.

We also tried out the small restaurant, which will prepare any fish you bring from the market. I've never had such fresh seafood (which is saying a lot considering I reside in Vancouver, Canada, which has some of the greatest seafood in North America).

If you take the bullet train from Tokyo, it's only a couple of hours away. So if you make it to Sendai while in Japan, this should be at the top of your list of things to do and see in this city.

Many variety seafood to choose for your rice bow and there is local sake bar inside the market. Delicious Ramen as well.

You can arrange your kaisendon yourself. Choose and buy some packs of your sashimi in the market, and go to the food court to order rice and miso soup. Plate your sashimi on your rice and enjoy your kaisendon.

Awesome place. Roughly 15 to 20 minutes walk from the station. Upon reaching the market, you'll be overwhelmed by the number of ojisans and obaasans pointing at you and advertising their wares. Shop around for the cuts of tuna, ikura and other seafood that you like, then ask for gohan. You'll be directed to the restaurant where you can get a piping hot bowl of rice and miso soup. Mix your seafood into the rice to make the perfect bowl of Kaisendon. Perfect breakfast for a cold morning. Waaaaaay fresher than what Tsukiji market in Tokyo can offer. And cheap too, at about 1000yen (varies with the amount and type of seafood)

This seriously old-school market was built in 1965, and is a good place to go after the early morning tuna and fish auctions at the nearby Shiogama City Fish Market. Shiogama has the largest number of sushi restaurants per capita in Japan, so you know that the seafood here is the real deal.

At the market stalls, freshly caught seafood is sliced up and readied to be sold to customers. While wholesale markets in Japan are usually only open to restaurant owners and businesses ,here they are open (and friendly) to regular visitors and curious travelers as well.

Definitely the best fish market we visited in Japan with an interesting concept that others should replicate. Vendors offer small servings of fresh fish at reasonable prices, which you can combine with rice at one of the stalls to make an excellent chirashi bowl. We did a detour on our way back to Tokyo and it was well worth it.

This market is amazing the quality of fish is really really great, absolutely tasty.

A very nice experience! Here you can buy the fish in the market and consume it directly in the restaurant area! You will never experience a sashimi more fresh than this! A must go!

One of the big fish markets around. Variety of sea food and fresh fish. There are small restaurants. The staff were very kind. We had a nice time as a family. Free parking

ホカホカのご飯にお吸い物も付いてこの価格。
酢飯用のお酢もプラスで購入しました。
・わさび¥10
練りわさびに近いみずみずしさ。
少量でもガッツリ辛いです。

市場を歩き回り、海鮮丼の具材を買っていきます。
ひとしきり買い揃えてから席を確保し、
最後にご飯セットを購入。
意外とQRコード支払いに対応しているお店があり
全体の3,4割は現金でなくQRで支払いしました。

席に着き、次はお楽しみの盛り付けタイム。
我ながら綺麗に盛り付けできました。
今回2人で訪問しましたが、具の量は丁度良かった
です。3,4人で行って沢山の種類を少しずつ、
というのも楽しそうです。

お味は…さすが市場。最高です！

○牡蠣 中¥400×2個
市場の中では、幾つかのお店が場内飲食対応可
となっており、購入してすぐに殻を剥いて
提供してもらえます。
相場は大きさによって250〜700円。
今回は生牡蠣卸売専門店「カネヒコ中村水産」さん
にて購入しました。ポン酢をつけていただきます。
サイズが小さめだからかクリーミーでは
ありませんでしたが、とてもさっぱりしています。

【市場】
・一つの建屋の中に、沢山のお店が展開しています。
貝類の食べ歩きに対応しているお店や、
My海鮮丼の具材も売っているお店も多いです。
コストコ再販店もありました。

・My海鮮丼は、イートインコーナーがあり
三連休初日の11:30時点では並ばずに
席を確保することができました。

・2月の訪問ということもあり、
市場内はひんやりと肌寒かったです。

松島から仙台空港✈に行く途中に立ち寄りました。

旅館での朝食の後でお腹が空いていません〜残念
新鮮なお刺身を少し頂きました🤏

場内では食べたい海産物を購入したら6号売場のマイ海鮮丼コーナーでごはんを購入。
綺麗にどんぶりに盛りつけて、自分だけのオリジナル海鮮丼を作ろう！！

刺身類などパック売りのものは2〜3人でシェアするのがお勧めです。

JR東日本の平日パスを使って、仙台から松島へ向かう途中に立ち寄りました。
好きなネタを少量ずつ購入し、6号売場でご飯セットを注文するとオリジナル海鮮丼を作れるのが魅力です。本マグロ500円、ウニ800円、いくら500円、そしてホッキ貝とつぶ貝はその場で捌いてもらい1900円という安さ！ご飯が見えなくなるくらいにたっぷり載せていただきました。ご飯がなくなり次第終了になるようですが、間に合って良かった！大満足です！

#賑わいが楽しい！様々な水産物な所狭しと並んでいます＾＾生マグロ1パック500円は異常に安し！駐車場はありますが、すぐにいっぱいになり、路駐している車がほとんどです。道路自体が広いので、逆にすぐに市場に行けて便利です！
