Heirin Temple

Visited today (late November 2022) and it was so worth-it having strolled around the complex in the afternoon. Many people came to see the leaves around probably because it's weekend, so I thought it's much better to see this on a weekday, if possible. The place seems to be kid-friendly as well and WCs are available within the area. The admission fee is ¥500 for adult. Some areas are off-limits, but it's shown anyway on the map provided at the entrance. It won't take much time to see the whole place, so you could take your time to walk. Benches are also visibly available under shaded areas, should you need to take a rest. Don't forget your lenses and cameras! 📷

Very old temple surrounded by maple trees. It's an hidden gem, not known to many tourists. It's very calm as it is away from the city. It takes about an hour to walk around the temple. Recommended to visit during Autumn season. Easily accessible by bus.

The amazing beauty of this temple in autumn make it one of the best spots in Tokyo to see the koyo (or autumn colors), and momiji tree.

Hirinji is Zen temple in Saitama Niiza-city.
It is about an hour from Tokyo station,
but few foreigners come to sightseeing at this temple.
That is a little-known but good place.
Fall is the most beautiful.
The Emperor came to see the beautiful autumn leaves.

This is Zen temple and its field is huge.
You can see beuful colored leaf on autum.
You have to pay 500 yen at entrance.

A peaceful and serene place to enjoy autumn colors also.

Stunning autumn colors! Fine to take a stroller. It’s an easy 60min loop walk if you go around the whole forest, no steep bits.

この時期、どこにいてもぐずぐずしてくしゃみ連発なので、演奏会は諦めて平林寺さんに。
2月の拝観停止直後で空いてるとみていってみました。新座駅から3km弱、てくてく歩いて。
静かですね。
しばし瞑想して帰途に着く。
大河内松平家の墓所が圧巻です。

紅葉が見ごろということで、2023年12月４日（月）に行ってきました。４年前にも訪れたのですが、その時は別なところも撮影していたので、到着が夕方近くになり本堂まででした。今回はお昼には到着し、じっくりと境内を散策しました。散策モデルコースに沿って放生池から大河内松平家廟所・平林寺境内林までをぐるっと散策しましたが、快晴のなかで境内を流れる野火止用水や放生池の水面に反射する紅葉がとても綺麗でした！！

紅葉のピークは過ぎていましたが神聖な空気でとても綺麗でした。敷地は広く、松平の廟が迫力がありました。バスは東久留米、ひばりヶ丘、朝霞台、志木、清瀬（コミュニティバスで一時間に一本、時間帯によっては二時間に一本）へのバスが通っています。お寺入口前のお土産屋さんが甘味処になっています。

臨済宗、禅寺。
雰囲気が素晴らしい。
風格のある本堂には近づけない。修行僧(当日は8人)の修行の邪魔にならないように。
山門、仏殿も素晴らしいのですが、
建物裏手の松平家廟所(墓)が圧巻で感銘しました…170基の墓石。
境内には「野火止用水」も流れています。

広い境内で散策には良い場所です。但し飲食ができないようです。お寺自体に駐車場がなく近隣の有料駐車場に停めるしか有りませんでした。少し歩きますが、新座市役所の駐車場が有料ですがお勧めです。

今年は色付きが遅れていたようで去年より1週間
ずらして行きましたがピークは過ぎてましたが、とても綺麗でした。もう今週末で終わりといった感じがします。

まさか埼玉新座市でここまで綺麗な紅葉が見れるなんてです。毎年行きたいと思います‼

紅葉の時期に訪れてみたかったお寺でした
色鮮やかな紅葉と静寂した雰囲気がとても素敵でした

ペットの入山は禁止です
