ATAGAWA TROPICAL & ALLIGATOR GARDEN

We’re so delighted by this garden! That’s must visit once you’re in Japan, 2 h from Tokyo, right next to train station

Makes for an interesting day trip rain or shine. Lots of good snacks, banana ice cream, and interesting plants from around the world. The greenhouse almost feels like you've entered a fairytale.

Garden is beautiful to walk around with fruit trees, water lilies, and orchids amongst a lot others; it’s like being teleported into a tropical rainforest. Lots of stairs so be wary if you have mobility issues. Alligators were fed around 1:00 PM with the caretaker giving explanations. Overall great experience :)

The gardens are seriously amazing! There's three separate areas and they just keep going and going. First area has all the crocodiles and caiman you could wish for, then you cross the street and start through the maze of green houses full of blooming flowers even in the middle of November. Everything is well cared for and it was stunning. Then you take a shuttle bus up the hill to the third area and even more greenhouses and gardens including an entire room of banana trees! This area has a small zoo featuring red pandas. So cute! We absolutely loved it

植物の所で感動しました。色んな種類で、とてもすごい量で、すごく綺麗に育ってて、美しいと思いました。マナティーとインコはとても可愛かった。ワニでいろんな種類があって、健康で、とても良かったです。ワニはほとんど動かない動物ですので、「ワニが動かなかった！」や「ワニのショウが欲しい」の文句言っている人はワニの性格明らかに分かっていないでしょう。テレビ見すぎ。
又行ける時のはたのは楽しみです。
I thought that as a botanical garden, it was amazing. They had tons of tropical trees, and a lot of fruit trees, with different varieties of each species. The trees were exquisitely cared for and all of the orchids were flowering. I had never seen such well tended for plants in a botanical garden. Many of the trees looks like bonsai trees, because in the tropics they grow really big, so in order to keep them small for the greenhouse they shape them. I was really impressed with the garden.

The alligators were also quite interesting. Alligators and crocodiles don't move much, but their life cycles and biology are fascinating. It's sad to hear people complain about the Park because the alligators didn't move much; they watch too much TV. This isn't animal planet. These are real alligators, they aren't going to be rushing around trying to attack everything they see. It doesn't work that way. In general they sit very still and wait for their prey to come. And that might be once every few days. They are relaxed, silent animals.

The manatee was adorable. He came right up to my hand. He squeezed his eyes shut like he was trying to sniff through the glass with his big soft muzzle. Apparently he enjoys a good rub-down every week. It would be great if there was some way to touch him, like maybe a big round hole in the glass, some lettuce in a tray, and someone to keep watch, because I think both people and the manatee would enjoy it. I think chances like this for people to connect with animals at parks makes those visits more memorable.

I look forward to the next time that I can go to the バナナワニ園．

Great alligator/banana garden! There are 3 different buildings, doable in 2.5 hrs for sure. There is a bus to take you up the hill to one of the locations even (take it, no one would ever walk that). It was like a maze of animals and lots of vegetation/plant exhibits. Also foot bath by the station is a must!

Great place to visit and kid friendly. Bunch of information for children to learn and the shuttle bus in between makes the trip much easier. Nice!

This was fun. Lots of alligators and lesser pandas. The lily pads were great!

Come for the Crocs. Stay for the plants. The botanical garden is the highlight.

ワニが主役ではあるものの、熱帯の植物も楽しめます。
ワニの種類は意外と多く、大きさ等も様々で結構楽しめます。

別園にある植物園は、普段飲んでいるコーヒー豆を観察したり、食べているチョコレートのカカオの大きさに驚いたり意外な発見がありました。

お子さまの夏休みの自由研究などに良いかもしれません。

ただし園内(特に植物園などがある別園)は急な坂や階段がありますので、足腰の悪い方はご注意ください。

別園内にあるフルーツパーラーは可愛いワニの形をしたいちご大福、バナナ大福やストロベリーパフェ、擦りたてのバナナジュースがあり、とても美味しいです。

ワニさん好きにはたまらないと思います。
自分はマナティのじゅんと君を目当てに行きました！
じゅんと君を間近で見ることができて感激でした。
施設は３つあり少し距離がありますが、マイクロバスが出ているので問題ないです。バスの車内では熱川ばにお君のアナウンスご聞けるのもgood！

踊り子待ちの時間潰しがてらいってみましたが、メインのワニ沢山いる受付裏のところ以外にも分園、植物園もあり、だいぶ見るところがあって案外楽しめました。
とにかく受付裏のワニ園のところはワニだらけで、しかもワニはなかなか動かないので化石のようになっている個体もあり、小学生の娘はあまり興味なさそうでしたが、分園のレッサーパンダコーナーは非常に喜んでおり、バナナ園も沢山バナナが実っていてトロピカル気分になれました。
特にレッサーパンダが屋外の木で寝ている姿は癒やされました。
園内はところどころ昭和を感じさせる施設でくたびれている設備もありますが、なかなかレトロで、珍しい植物も沢山見られ、期待せずいくと案外楽しめる施設でした。次回もうちょっとゆっくり見学したいと思います。
バナナチョコソフトとバナナジュースも美味しかったです。

30年ぶりに行ってきました🍌日曜でしたが人混みはやはりあまりなく笑、快適でした。

本園ワニ園、本園植物園、分園、じっくり見て楽しみました！3時間居ましたww植物が好きなので見てるだけでワクワクして、癒されました。レッサーパンダはシャッターチャンスをくれてサービスしてくれました🤭w

マナティーのじゅんと君は、やはり狭くて暗い感じのところにいるから胸が苦しくなったな。もうちょっと広い水槽とかにしてあげてほしい(;_;)

パンケーキとか食べて一休みしました🍌ガチャガチャ4連続レッサーパンダはあり得なかったwwwバニオかバナナワニが欲しかったのにレッサーパンダ4連チャンて😂😂😂

前売りでチケット1600円だったし、値段以上に楽しめて満足でした！

ワーリーのぬいぐるみ目当てで訪問したんですが、思いの外楽しかったです。貴重な白変種も見られました。小６の息子は理科的な展示に興味があり、植物園も楽しむことができました。段差や坂道が多く、足腰が弱い我が身には辛かったので元気なうちに訪問することをオススメします。

数年ぶりに来園しました。
今回は子供も一緒だったので、怖がらないか心配していましたが、ワニの写真をたくさん撮り、お魚に餌をあげ、植物園できれいなお花を見つけ、バナナが木になっているのを始めてみてびっくりし、食虫植物に興味を示し...とかなり満喫してくれました。
時間がなく、フルーツパーラーには行けなかったのが心残りでしたが、次の日も「ワニのところ行きたい！」と子供が言うくらい楽しいところでした。

分園への移動は無料のシャトルバスがおすすめです！

母親とだいぶ前に来てもう忘れちゃってたけど、楽しいこと思い出したの！
今回は、ワニがワニを甘噛するという貴重な光景を目の当たりにしたよ。あと、水槽に落ちるところとか。なん何回見ても、ワニ面白かった。、

自然がたくさんあって、空気が綺麗に感じました。

ワニと熱帯植物の楽園。ワニ率は高いがバナナ率はそうでもない。

ワニはもちろん沢山いるのだが、それより熱帯植物がすごい。種類と量が尋常じゃない。「ワニもいる熱帯植物園」というのが実態に近い。

熱川温泉の地熱を利用して温めているようで、温暖な気候の動植物が養えるようだ。ワニ以外にも魚が数十類いる。そしてなぜかレッサーパンダが多数飼育されている。

昭和30年代の開業と古くから運営している。施設自体が歴史を感じさせる。年季の入った娯楽施設は強い、老若男女みな満足することと思う。
