Yarmouk University(abbreviated as YU) is a state-supported public university located near the city center of Irbid in northern Jordan.
Founded in 1976, Yarmouk University has topped the lists of the best universities in Jordan and the Middle East.
Yarmouk University has about 37,000 students working in 15 faculties offering 52 bachelor's degrees, 64 master's degrees, and 18 doctoral programs in various disciplines. The university also hosts 12 research and professional centers, including the Aqaba Marine Science Station in Aqaba, the Center for Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration Studies, and the UNESCO Chair for Desert Studies and Combating Desertification.

One of the best, as an academic institution.

The FIVE ***** for the university as a body not as a construction of concrete. I am far away reading those reviews it's disturbing how is the students they this level of edu. and they says bad comments ,most of the time people thinks if they do it this they define the univ. NO............they define the attitude of the society how they behave in all.Been said any person cares about their homeland they must choose specific words to clarify things a bout where they live and.........study,another thing using slangs at this level???????(means street language)......!!!!!!!!!!!!. You can't compare the way of life to the west ,you far away , the infrastructure of way of life is about 500 years ,is very hard to understand it correctly when you do ,you are about 70 years of age then you can't do anything about it.So respect want it,help want it,appreciation want it,..........help to find a solutions together,not running your mouth for nothing ,may ALLAH bless you all.

I came here as my study abroad. I came to the language center and also took a few classes in biology. I have got to say the language center is very accommodating. The professors are super nice, clear, and helpful. I am really enjoying my experience. If you have an issue they are here to help. Also the biology professors are great. They really know their info back and fourth. They were also super helpful and want you to learn. Overall experience with professors are great.

The commons has authentic and tasty Arabic food. The campus is rather dirty with trash everywhere, and building are not all in the best shape, but you must remember this is the Middle East.

I do reccomend this university for an authentic experience in learning Arabic, since its a small city with less foreigners, you are forced to use the language which further concretes what you learn.

Very good university in the heart of irbid. Thousands of talented people graduated from the institution who served and are serving all over the world. Areas around the university are busy during the calendar year.

I have studied in yarmouk University 22 years ago and visiting it after all these places brought back so many memories that came flooding. I like that they took care of the place its really well maintained, might be not well reinnovated but atleast well maintained. Out of all Jordan universities yarmouk has an amazing real acadimic look and feel to it and you can't help but love the place. Well serviced and surrounded by outside and inside food and leasure places plus most importantly equipped with one of the best and biggest libraries in any university in Jordan.

Yarmouk University (YU) was founded by a Royal Decree in 1976. As a leading institution in higher education and second largest university in Jordan, YU has been known for its dedication to service, its innovative approach to academic management and human resource development, and its relentless pursuit of excellence in all fields of research and instruction. As of 2016, the university had about 37, 000 students enrolled in the three levels: Bachelor, Master’s, and doctoral. Employing nearly 2,600 faculty and staff members, Yarmouk University has 15 faculties, 7 scientific research centers, and 5 research incubators. It offers high quality 62 Bachelor programs, 64 Master’s, and 18 doctoral. The University is expanding to meet the needs for new high-quality research and teaching facilities and to expand its network of international relations. YU has cooperation agreements with nearly 100 institutions worldwide and has several research grants funded by World Bank, EU, USAID, DFG, and others.
