It’s therapeutic. The hike, the reward of sunrise and the views of clouds and valleys to take back as long lasting memories. Tip: First timers should go in a group or with professional guides, Terran is challenging and follow the signs and instructions without doubt. Travel light with good amount of water and a raincoat

The trail is quite challenging so might need moderate preparation with the gear etc, other than that its amazing experience. Recommend.

Unfortunately I was not able to finish this hike due to a late start, but I will be back. The mountains and views are gorgeous whenever you can see through the clouds. Bring a rain jacket and dress appropriately as it will get cold in higher elevations.

If you are looking for the whole variety of flora and fauna in the blue mountains this is the hike for you! The trail is sometimes narrow and a little steep but when you are used to hiking you can easily make it. Just pick a sunny day, we extended for another night in Irish Town and drove to the road up to Whitfield Hall the next day. It took us around 1.5h to get to bottom of the road and another 30-40min to get to the trail by locals either with a 4x4 or by bikes if you are brave enough 😉 the road up there is the toughest you habe seen so far in Jamaica don’t judge by the first meters its a long drive up to the trail and google maps fails there.

Nevertheless if you got the time to do it its a definite worth it. Don’t miss the corner at the peak to get to the triangular spot much nicer than the shelter place for a picnic 🧺

Wish you a good hike ⛰😎

Great hike! The trail was well maintained ( as expected since you have to pay US$ 20 to enter the park). From the typical start point for the hike, it’s about 7km distance and 1000m elevation gain to cover. If you’re an experienced hiker this hike will be quite easy for you - The incline is very gradual for the most part. However, for inexperienced persons, it could definitely be challenging. But a great experience all the same!

Not-so-easy hike through the jungle to the top of the mountain. Beautiful view from above.

Growing up in Jamaica as a kid I always wanted to do this hike, now returning 30 years later I can now say I have ✅ this hike off my bucket list. Took my cuz with me, who cursed me the whole time as how difficult the hike was 😆, and it was a difficult hike if you are not prepared physically and have the proper gear. We had a guide, which was not needed but still glad we had him for the company as we started the hike at 11:30 pm at night and finished in time to see the sunrise at the peak. So glad I got it done, but that's it, will never do it again, my old bones can't manage it again. However I certainly recommend to anyone to do it at least once.

A must visit place. You have to see the sunrise above the clouds.
If you want to see the sunrise you have to get up early and prepare yourself to a hard tour. But as hard the tour is as the view is as beautiful.

Great attraction spent entire day there. Drank some amazing coffee, met people visited local school. Views are breathtaking. If you're in Jamaica it is a must have attraction. At the end make sure you'll take refreshing dip in to the river and admire waterfalls.

I've been having trouble describing my experience on the the Blue Mountains, until I recently discovered this word - "Yūgen" - A profound awareness of the universe that triggers feelings too deep and mysterious for words.

That's my experience.

Not a journey to take up with out proper preparation. The complete hike took us about 7 hour. We started our hike from the Minto Primary school. We were transported to Whitfield Hall Hostel (which I strongly recommend) from there our hike official began. It took us about an hour and twenty five minutes to get to portland gap and almost two hours to get to the peak. The path got more narrow and rugged the closer we got to the peak. It was also a very cold and rainy day. I recommend comfortable athletic or hiking shoes, thick socks and a warm jacket. We also used sticks to help is along as some path ways were slippery and others were filled with jagged stone. All in all it an amazing experience.

Clean cool natural trail and the campsite is cozy. The peak is one to behold. You have to experience it for yourself! Prepare for the cold air going up and strained knees going down. Stay warm and hydrated!

What a lovely hike this was. Tiring, though... 12km each way from out guest house. Probably, we got the best possible day. No rain, fog just for 15-20min after sunrise time and then full hour time slot for marvellous views all arround the peak with early sunshine and cute lower clouds.
We started at 2am, arrived to peak at 5:30am and returned back to guesthouse at 9:15am for breakfast.
We came to guesthouse previous evening. Drove to Hagley Gap with our rental car, then 4x4 ride upwards.
I really enjoyed this hike. First time mountains in jungle / tropical area. Slightly different than Canadian Rockies or European mountains :) Not a single scramble or climbing piece, but elevation gain - more than 1000m!

Easily most amazing hiking experience you can have in the Caribbean. Takes extreme mental, emotional and physical strength of you're going to do it without breaking.
