Val Rosandra Nature Reserve

Wonderful hiking trail, mesmerizing waterfall at the end. If you're brave enough and have proper equipment, you can go down to the waterfall and explore the other side of the mountain. The path is marked in some areas, however it is quite dangerous. The views are worth it though and the path along the river is full of hidden pools and natural slides, perfect for swimming in warmer months!

The natural beauty of this reserve is beyond words. From several points up on the Draga Sant'Elia side you can see Trieste and the sea on the horizon, it just takes your breath away! Rock climbing, walking and biking trails reaching several little villages on the Slovenia and Italy side where you can stop for a delicious meal and some good wine. The gorge's creek (Rosandra) ends up into a a small lagoon with a breathtaking waterfall. Enjoy your trip!

A natural reserve with nice hiking and biking paths, a huge climbing area. There are a lot of small villages with restaurants and apartments. There is an amazing view over the city of Trieste.

Make sure to not enter with your car until the main entrance, there a parking zone near to the church the you need to walk until the entrance otherwise could you risk a fine 🙂

Beautiful nature park for hikers and climbers

It's an amazing place, in summer and in winter. In summer you can even swim in to the water. There are many footpath.

Beautiful hiking trails across the valley. Waterfall is super cold outside of summer.

Beautiful hung route with parts where you have to climb on rocks, so it is not recommended for kids or beginners .

Very nice place for hiking or biking

Beautiful place in the border of Italy and Slovenia. There is a trail between the mountains that links both countries, is an old train track (tracks have been removed) es easy to walk very clean perfect for the non experience or for mountain bikes. There is no much sade as is rock all around so sun protection is mandatory. The views are breathtaking particularly once you cross the border. You can follow the trail up to the sea in Slovenia.

A great place to hike near Trieste.

It is a beautiful place.. I went to Val Rosandra thrice while I was in Trieste for 6 months.. It has a good track that can cover the whole valley view from the top. There is a small eat out place right near the border of Slovenia which is a must visit.

I love this place! 15 min away from the city center and you feel like you are in a secluded natural reserve full of wildlife and scenery! Tip - spot the little goats on the photo!

A beautiful canyon surrounded by tall limestone cliffs. A rock climber's paradise. Worth a visit if one is in Trieste

Really a fantastic valley - the pathes there are in a very well condition and the signs too. Highly recommanded for a trip in the nature very close to Trieste and a good opportunity to let behind the hectic of the City.
