Il Vecchio Mulino ristorante

Service was excellent. The food was sensational. I'm super-picky & particular... and the people who ripped the pizza are clueless; sorry, but this place is legit. Elena & Christian spoke English (which helped). Let me count how amazing it was in so many ways.

-Bruschetta (Bruschette con pomodorini e stracchino) Ala Buratta con Tomato y pesto... yummy!

-Gnocchi Luciana (pictured; sorry, yellow lighting after dark)... like velvet... the gnocchi was so soft it was whipped mashed potatoes with tartufatu; simply one of the best dishes I've ever had. Full stop.

(All pasta is made by hand, in-house as needed; except the gluten-free pasta 'sensa glutine'; which my daughter needed.)

-Stinco di Maiale (pictured; pork shank or what I was once served... a pork osso buco) with mushroom sauce on a bed of whipped potato. My wife remarked it was the best pork she'd ever had. It had a beautiful crust because with roasted so properly. Super winner!

-Frittura di mare - light batter, tempura-esque. Really fried well; could have has more shrimp but was solid.

-Gnocchi al Pesto (off the menu; which they're happy to do). Pesto tasted like it was just made.

Would love to go there again. It was our first night; was a bit jet-lagged but enjoyed it... so far the best all around meal we've had in Tuscany/Umbria.

Who knew this hidden treasure was a culinary jackpot. From the outside, it doesn't look like much more than a tiny town pizza joint but once inside, you'll find ample space and a menu to delight anyone. We keep going back and bringing friends because it's always delicious. You like pasta and clams, you'll never forget this dish because it's probably the best you've ever had. Try venturing out for the zucchini flower pasta dish-- where can you find this? Yum. Give this place a try-- just outside Cortona. Worth the drive, if you're not close.

Amazing. Staying nearby with Stephania who recommended and THE best food we had during our 10 day visit to Italy. It was so good we ate here twice and would have eaten here again had time prevailed.
Starting with the baked scallops- oh my, I was slowing my eating down to savor, Tagiatelle with Boar, Gnochhi, calzone to the creme brulee. So very, very delicious.
The owners, wait staff and chef were all friendly and perfectly welcoming. Thank you for the end to our evenkng with the wonderful Limoncello!

If you want the best- make a stop, you will not regret it!

After yearly visits to Tuoro Sul Trasimeno and many, many nights out, I have come to the conclusion that Vecchio Mulino is my favourite restaurant in the area. The owners of the restaurant are kind, hardworking Italians with a heart for hospitality and delicious Italian food. Over the years, the menu has simplified, with only the best dishes earning a place on the menu.

Vecchio Mulino is a child- and dogfriendly restaurant. The ambiance is laid back and warm. More importantly, the food is delicious. Especially the gnocchi Luciana (prior the Penne alla Luciana), named after one of the owners, is delicious. The pizzas always taste amazing and the pastas with fish - or pesce - are amazing as well.

A tip from me: leave enough room for dessert, as the tiramisu is the most delicious tiramisu I have ever eaten (see one of the pictures). Another tip is to try the fiori di zucca fritti, a slightly savory antipasti made with courgette flowers.

Lovely relaxed restaurant. It has been renovated inside since we were last there. Great Pizza. Very friendly service. Good value.

Dear friends, the food deserves a Michelin star. A wonderfully family atmosphere. Service? You won't find one as good in any VIP zone! I love this place. Kisses, Grażyna.

Very nice place, relaxed ambience with jazzy background music, very friendly staff and last but not least excellent Italian food. The menu comprises of a nice variety of dishes, all at a very reasonable price. Recommended!!

The best restaurant in the area! Opens at 19.00 and from that moment on, it is full! But no matter how busy the staff is, they are still very friendly and patient, and work so hard. Besides that, the food is delicious, it's not expensive and the location is beautiful!
