It was a unique experience, as it was the first ever time I have been to the lighthouse and could actually climb to the viewpoint. The entrance fee is 8€ per person and I find it to be reasonably priced. You can walk around the lighthouse (open-air museum), inside the lighthouse construction with plenty of information, and then climb to the viewpoint inside the lighthouse itself. Unfortunately, it's not possible to climb to the top but even the half-way view point has a magnificent city and sea view.

А visit to La Lanterna is a must when in Genoa. It is the world's third oldest lighthouse (rebuilt in 1543). Now it is a military zone and there is a security check at the entrance, but you can climb up to the panoramic terrace, which is in the middle of the lighthouse. There are 179 steps to get there and no elevator for tourists. The view is worth the climb though! There is also a small museum about the history of the lighthouse with photos, paintings and artifacts, it’s interesting and informative.

Torre della Lanterna was built in 1543 and is known as the symbol of Genoa. Lanterna keeps seafarers safe at all times, allowing them to steer ships to safe ports. This 120-meter (394-foot) tall building is in the hearts of Genoese people, and when they see it, they know they are at home. Considered the third oldest lighthouse in the world, no visit to Genoa is complete without a visit to this iconic lighthouse. Inside the lamphouse is a museum that records the history of Genoa, an important port city in Italy.

Worth a visit, be it relaxing stroll or chill in the surrounding garden/park area or for the stunning views of whole surrounding port and town layout. Lots of interesting information regarding Lighthouse construction and history. Keep in mind you can get only to middle section, upper level is off limits. Still quite nice and plenty of steps to climb just to get there.

I have been there on Sunday and it wasn’t crowded. The location isn’t one of the most beautiful part of the city because it is located near the port where there a lot of container and industrial buildings and factories. You have to walk across a street where there a lot of cars but the view worth it. Around the lanterna (the lighthouse) there is a small park, which is well kept and clean with some benches. After the park you will visit the museum of the lighthouse, which is also small but is very interesting and beautiful due to his location inside the historical walls of the lighthouse. After that you can go to the upper part of the lighthouse climbing 172 steps, at the end of them you will find a beautiful sightseeing of the sea and the centre of Genoa. The visit is well organised and it costs only 8€ for young adults and adult and 6€ for students.

It is a bit apart from the Old Downtown. You can pay 8euros to climb +300 step till the top where you have a 360 panoramic view. If you want you can pay only 4euros and have the view from the bottom of the lighthouse.

Great view from there. We were there in August 2022. There were so nice security guards. Although there was a thunderstorm one hour ago they let us shortly on the top of the lighthouse and took care of us. This was so kind. Thank you so much. And if you read this, your story was so amazing we still remember it. You are doing an amazing job.

For visitors: You have to pay entrance and you have to lock your bags in a locker, because it is a military area (when I remember it right).

This is very cool and what a view.
We did this on our last day in Genoa.
You don't need to buy tickets in advance on off-season, but it wouldn't be a bad idea just to have a stress free entry.

There are a load of steps leading up to the light house, wmand there is no lift, so unfortunately those in wheelchairs or have mobility issues this isn't a place you can visit.

It's definitely a place thar should be on your list to see while being in Genoa. It's the world's 3rd oldest light house.

Lovely experience at the lighthouse. The museum was very interesting with historical details and artifacts. The view from the top of the lighthouse is very great. Highly recommended!

A great visit.
The nearest bus stop or train station is an interesting 15-20min walk along a very nice boardwalk past the dockyards.
The 10-12 storey climb is worth it for the view of the port, the hills of Genova and the west and if you time it well, you can watch a ship arrive or depart.

Very high, a lot of stairs but it worth for sure. Enjoy the view in the top and take a lot of pictures.
The park is very boring, but the view in the top is fabulous.
Spend some time to learn about the lighthouse because it's a very nice history not just about the lighthouse itself but of all Genoa.

The symbol of Genova. The path to reach it is beautiful and calm and the industrial area makes it fascinating. I didn't visit the museum and the park yet, but sure they are worth a visit.

Absolutely beautiful views, not at all wheelchair accessible, but it is possible to climb to the top with the aid of crutches if your mobility allows it. The museum is very interesting and has English translations of the entire information on offer. The staff were friendly and the entry prices incredibly reasonable.
The views alone were worth twice the cost we paid for entry, and I cannot recommend this as a place to visit more highly.

Nice view on all the city/port and nice museum to visit, related to the history of lighthouse which is of the XI century.

Went here just now as a 3 people group. Good staff, awesome views and aircon inside the museum. Come stop by when you can, it's worth the price and the time. Enjoy Genova! MashAllah

Old lighthouse is defenitely worth visiting. The area includes cozy park, lighthouse with the 360 degrees observation deck and museum. Hint: perfect place to meet sunset.

Nice place but it’s a pity no clear signs for access. We spent more than 30 minutes to locate it.

Industrial and seaport landscape. Original way to see the City from a different prospective. If you have 1 hour to spare, don't miss it!
