Lake Kleifarvatn Car Park

Small car park on the western side of Kleifarvatn. Superb views over the lake which are impressive all through the year. If you have time, Route 42 is a good alternative either coming from or going to the airport. Can be closed in bad weather due to steep gradient. There is a larger car park on the northern shore of the lake.

Just stop and look at this incredible view!

UNREAL PLACE. Just absolutely beautiful. Breathtaking. The view from this car park is beyond the prettiest thing I've ever seen. It was covered in snow the lake looked like crystals and glass at the edges. If you want to see a nice view in Iceland ide definetly not miss this on a clear day.

Came here late at night, and saw the northern lights! Perfectly dark and away from all the city lights!!

A brilliant place to visit, the road getting there is quite hairy in a small car so would recommend a 4x4 or higher power machine than a city car. The views are spectacular, the landscape is other-worldly being carved by the winds and weather along with stunning mountains on the other side of the lake. I would recommend a trip down this road as many sights on the way and a generally interesting drive.

Amazing view

Spectacular!!!!!! If you have a couple of hours to spare before checking into your flight and you still have a rental car, do yourself this favor and drive down to the lake. The landscape is like an alien planet. If you go to the other side of the peninsula, you end up in Grindavik where you find a number of seafood restaurants with fresh catch menus.
