From the view point or parking area of the place, we have a stunning view of turquoise color water lake and black sand beach of the both side and the mountains on the opposite side. When the day we visited here, the weather is not clear and very windy. Be careful when taken the photos near to the cliff. It's worth to stop by to take a fresh breath and photos. Free parking.

Nice place and surrounding in the ‘middle of nowhere’. Be quiet and enjoy the sound of silence.

Beautiful place. Unfortunately we could not drive inside because of the weather conditions but we still found some magnificent places just driving around it. Worth seeing. Sometimes I felt like on Mars :)

My first experience in Iceland's natural beauty. The defining moments were when my sister and I pulled over by a mountain and casually climbed it through sunset.

It's a nature preservation area. You can smell the sulphur and see the bubbles + gas coming out from the water and the rock. It's truley amazing. Not far down the road there is also a beautiful lake which you should just stop by and feel the nature !

Wild and woolly with miles of desolate volcanic wilderness, simply amazing. Accessed with a gravel road with plenty of places to pull off the road to explore.

Just amazing. The whole country is! If you get a chance go, hire a 4x4 and drive you'll never see anything like it.

Always best. Good for long drives and if you want to see the clouds rite nest to your cars roof.

A beautiful and completely unique area to drive and hike through. The lakes were incredible shades of blue and the geothermal area looked (and smelled) like we were on a different planet. Highly recommend coming this way especially if you have a few hours free before or after your flight out of Keflavic

Beautiful lake, a lot of fumaroles, an erupting volcano, and all of that in such a short distance !

A once in a lifetime experience is to see a volcano. Won't ever forget and will come back again if there's another one next year or if this one becomes even more spectacular than it is now🤩

A stroll that is memorable. If not by sight, then by the smell of sulfur. It was a lovely stroll and not crowded

Well made walkways give you a good glimpse of the hot springs. There are signs with information about the springs in multiple languages including Icelandic, English, German, and another that I didn't recognize.

The real treat is following the trail up the mountainside. The view is spectacular. The trail gets a little rough in places but is still very nice. My GPS said I traveled 0.81 miles for the decent.

Worth visiting, you can see the earth open up in front of you, with gases bubbling out of the hot water.
