Tilveran

I wish we knew this restaurant from day 1. I had the Fish trio a la Chef and hubby had the Óskar. Compliments to the Chef and to the host who gave us a warm welcome, offered us water as soon as we settled. He made sure to ask if everything was ok with our food. I took the opportunity to ask for a little bit more of the creamy white wine and butter sauce which he generously provided 🫠 Thanks to the host and the Chef and all the staff because the place is also clean everywhere.

Hidden gem! Excellent food and very friendly service. We had several meals here and were extremely happy with the food. Lobster soup is delicious, very tender lamb, fantastic wolfish and cod. Highly recommend.

We had the Fish Trio. It was a huge portion; 3 pieces of fish served with a baked potato on top of some root vegetables in a sauce. Some of the best and fresh meat fish I’ve ever had.

Great small cozy restaurant at the heart of Hafnarfjörður. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Feels authentic and "homey".

Had one of the best fish dishes I have had in a long time! The chocolate cake was also delicious.

Even though this was the only place I was able to go on my one day in Iceland, I think the experience made my trip worth it. Both the service and food were phenomenal, and I will not forget the kindness shown by the host!

I was looking for something uniquely Icelandic, and reviews brought me here. Looking for the cod cheek mentioned in earlier reviews(having tried it in Turku), instead I decided to try a fish called ‘plaice’ (since there was no cod cheek).

Plaice is delicious! At least, this restaurant certainly did a good job. The lobster sauce was creamy, but not too heavy; It complimented the smooth texture of the fish. The lightly crispy skin was definitely my favourite part! The vegetables brought a new dimension to the overall flavour, and I really felt like I had quite the treat today!

No words can describe how kind the staff was. I’ll be honest, I laughed a little when I walked in and saw the stop sign that said ‘Stop and Smile’; That sign is honestly such a good representation of Tilveran Restaurant! Both the people and the food made me smile. I was having a bad day today; Despite not knowing anything about me, the host tried his best to cheer me up and really made me feel glad that I came here to Iceland. For sure, if I am back in town, I will definitely make a second visit here!

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants i ate at on my trip.
The server was very nice and answered our questions without much hassle.
The prices are quite high, even for Rekjavyks standards, but the food is more than worth it. It was simply fantastic and if you love fish, this restaurant should be on your watch-list.

Could not recommend this place enough! This is one of the best meals I've ever had and I hope we can make time to come back before our trip ends. Highly recommend getting enough lobster soup for your party because you won't want to share it!

Food was tasty, service was really solid, and the prices were nice. All around a great place for a bite of lunch.

We went there by chance for lunch. It was the greatest food we had in a 13 days rountrip in Iceland. It was the fish Olathe of the day including a soup and bread. We had a nice onion soup and fish with potatoes and vegetetables in a sauce Bearnaise.. the taste was just marvellous. The waitres was friendly and helpfull, too. The meal was realy worth the price. Dinner prices are a lot higher, I saw. So if you make it for lunch there on a,weekday, I realy recommend it!

Lovely, warm, welcoming establishment down by the harbour. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was simply out of this world. Their cream of leek soup without doubt the nicest starter I've ever eaten anywhere in the world. Stunning, just like their fish. Would recommend to anybody.

On our last evening on Iceland - this time at least - we spontaneously decided to have dinner at Tilveran which was a really positive surprise! Being just a little adventurous, we decided to taste the "Wolffish with creamy pepper sauce" and it was absolutely delicious. Together with the nice and friendly service there's nothing to complain about.
Hafnarfjörður might not be the most giving place for tourists but this restaurant is worth stopping here for a while.

Last but not least, the price were more than fair in an expensive Country like Iceland.

I had a specialty of the house a very nice lobster soup with salad and bread, second portion included, very good, nice ambiance friendly personell.

I have a very good experience with this restaurant. I am allergic to artifical additives, and asked the waiter about their food. He was very very helpful and I got a fantastic delicious dinner. Thank you so much!!!

Had the seawolf and it was one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend.
